Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands has suffered a setback after aggravating his injured left hamstring.

General manager of football operations Chris Bond said that Sandilands would travel to Melbourne to consult a specialist.

“Once Aaron has been assessed by the specialist and we have his medical report, we will be in a position to comment further on the preferred course of action,” Bond said.

Meanwhile, Zac Clarke has been cleared of any serious injury after failing to complete training on Tuesday at Fremantle Oval.

“Zac will be assessed throughout the week to determine if he is available to play in round one,” Bond said.

It's a good thing we have depth in the ruck department.

Ricochet

Very lucky, especially for the future. We have drafted very well

And we still have Moller on the rookie list as well.

Are Hannath/Moller up to AFL standard yet though?

Should be a good battle on Saturday if we dont take in Lycett. Cox vs Griff + Kepler/Hannath.

Hannath has a mature body - 201cm and 102kgs.  He been playing senior SANFL as the lead ruck for a few years including the 2011 grand final.

Maybe it will be Hannath regardless of whether Clarke is right or not. What better way to see if he is as good as we think he is.
He is  big and strong, and can play ruck or forward as well as Zac by the sound of it, and may be further advanced as a player than Zac

valkorum

If Clarke was fit he would be playing over Hannath --- easily IMO

you may be right Valk but i am tipping a surprise with either tanner smith or Jack Hannath to fill the second string role for the derby.

Tanner Smith is a chance - Ross was keen to talk him up last night on the news.

This is the exact reason we picked up both Hannath and Smith to be used as fill ins if there is a ruckman down, or we need a big forward.
I see us being well placed to replace Pavlich in a few years with either of these guys or Nat Fyfe.I think Fyfe will travel a similar path to Pavlich as a youngster, be played all over the place, then settle him up forward
