Advertiser 20/3 -

Adelaide last night picked its preliminary squad with teenager Brad Crouch as the only new Crow to debut. Inexperienced Luke Brown and Josh Jenkins will fill the void left by key forward Tippett's defection to Sydney and Michael Doughty's retirement.

Sanderson was coy on on Crouch's much-anticipated debut after the Victorian was forced by AFL rules to spend all of last season in the SANFL where he forged a reputation as a tough midfielder.

"Whether he plays this week, next week, or in Round 10, I'm sure it is going to happen this year" Sanderson said.

There was also another article in the 'Tiser today about Mitchell's expected elevation next week and how impressive he's been.

"There's healthy competition for the Doughty role. Tambling trained the house down today. He won't play this week but he will this year."

We will know before locked whether he gets the vest and it will make my decision easier.
If Crouch gets the vest... he won't be in my team at all

not sure if thats a good move, i rate him as the second best rookie pick after omeara. Both guys would have gone very ealry in the draft and they should be worth 160k+ and are only 100ish so you have to go for them. Just stick him on the bench if he is the sub, if he isnt put him on the field.

just reviewd the match report from the crows carlton match where he wasn't used as the sub (previous full game against geelong he was the sub), and crouch's endurance and stamina were apparantly a highlight of his game. apparantly he was still running hard deep into the 4th quarter when other had lost their legs. crows would be mad to start him as sub if his endurance was a key feature of his game.....IMO

Yeh not doubting his ability at all, he's a gun. I'm just thinking about Clay Smith last year. Had two sub games in the first 2 rounds and struggled to get over 200k
So if Crouch gets the vest this week, then there is probably a good chance he will get it in the future.

I would say he starts, and unless he is struggling in the third he will play out the game, recon Sando wants a full game to see how he goes, unless he wants to hide him a little? :-\
