Partial Lock Out DPP Rule

I understand how the partial lockouts work except for one thing...

Are DPP locked into their positions or can they be moved as long as it is not on/off the ground?

Specifically, if I have Cox up forward Friday but then decide I want him as a ruck can I do this and replace him with a forward?

If not it makes the uncertainty around berger more difficult as it may determine where Cox is positioned.
