RICHMOND

Richmond will field a nother near-full strength line-up in the final week of the pre-season series, this Saturday against the Western Bulldogs at Visy Park.

The Tigers have made only a handful of changes to the team which defeated Hawthorn in Launceston last week, with Nick Vlastuin among the inclusions.

Luke McGuane, Shane Tuck and Orren Stephenson also return to the squad after missing last week’s game.

A squad of 26 will face the Bulldogs at 2pm on Saturday, in a full scale, four quarter match with home-and-away season rules in place.

There will be no interchange cap, and teams will be permitted to play up to eight interchange players, with no subs.

BULLDOGS

A third Western Bulldogs 2012 first round draftee is poised to play senior football this pre-season, with exciting young pup Nathan Hrovat named in the extended squad to take on Richmond on Saturday.

After a quad injury delayed his AFL start, the ex-Northern Knights captain regained his touch in a VFL practice match for VFL affiliate Williamstown last week and will be looking to show his wares at senior level if selected in the final side.

The 18-year-old forged a reputation as a ball magnet during his junior footballing career with the versatility to win his own ball as well as push forward to hit the scoreboard and won All Australian honours in his TAC Cup year as well as being recognised as Vic Metro’s Most Valuable Player.

Hrovat joins a number of experienced campaigners who have been recalled to the side, to consolidate the lineup before the season opener against Brisbane Lions.

Captain Matthew Boyd joins Club veterans Robert Murphy, Dale Morris and Daniel Giansiracusa who return to the fold, while silky outside runner Jackson Macrae will line up for his forth senior appearance.

New recruits Koby Stevens and Nick Lower have also retained their spots with promising pre-season form while rookie Brett Goodes will look to build on a great summer in the red, white and blue.

The Western Bulldogs take on Richmond at Visy Park on Saturday from 2pm, with the 27 man squad set to be finalised before the first bounce.

Am I mad to be considering a cheap Tom Cambell at R2? :o

Ricochet

If Leuey is out I think Longer might be a better option at that price.

Toga

No way I can put Knightsy in my team now, was really hoping he'd play this weekend :-\

Still no clue why he is out, must be a niggle that Richmond's managing, hopefully nothing more serious :-\

tbagrocks

Maybe there is a reason he's hardly played for Adelaide in three years ;)

Windigo

Are the games gunna have live scores on FF or not?  ???

Hagebear

Finally Hrovat is in. Could well be taking Jack Vineys place in my side.

Richmond has finished the pre-season with four wins from five matches, after a narrow victory over the Western Bulldogs at Visy Park on Saturday.

The Tigers struggled to find their groove for much of the game, trailing at every break. But they lifted when it mattered most, booting two goals to nil in the final term to record a 14.8 (92) to 12.11 (83) victory.

In wintry conditions at the old Princes Park, the Bulldogs appeared hungrier than their opponents. This was old-fashioned footy. Played in a boutique stadium and with a suburban atmosphere.

And it was scrappy.

The Bulldogs looked like they had taken control of the match in the second term, booting four goals to Richmond's one to take a 21-point lead midway through the quarter.

They ran hard to create and worked back to help their teammates out.

Richmond, on the other hand, looked sluggish and didn't seem to find any flow in its game.

Restless Tiger fans began to let their team know how they felt, before back-to-back goals from Deledio and Martin brought the Tigers back to within seven points at half-time.

When given time and space, Deledio exhibited his class and polished ball use and looked like one of the few Tigers who could break the game open and it was he who booted the decisive final quarter goal to give his team an unassailable lead.

Despite a pretty promising game, young Bulldog Ayce Cordy may be looked at by the Match Review Panel after colliding heavily with young Tiger Nick Vlastuin in the first quarter.

Cordy appeared to leave the ground and collect the youngster above the shoulders.
