Hi Guys,

I am seriously stuck between these two. Both camps are suggesting that they are both going to have blinders of a year. Bartel trending downwards and Martin inconsistent....

Cheers

I would go with Bartel. He is more consistent, but then again this could be Martins breakout year.

Martin burnt me last year so I'm a little reluctant to go with him again. Also Bartel is apparently fit and firing.

I'm seriously considering starting Bartel - don't trust Martin no matter what Hardwick says - as soon as Jimmy starts tiring replace him with Stevie J.

You don't pick premiums to sideways trade them you pick them to keep.

Not everyone trusts Martin which is fair enough but if you're genuinley split between Bartel and Martin then go with Martin, he's 50k cheaper

Since 2007, Bartel has been on a solid decline.

2007: 114
2008: 113
2009: 109
2010: 105
2011: 97
2012: 95

Plus last I head was that he will be used as a swing man in defence and in the forward half rather than getting a rotation through the midfield. WIth the development of Geelong's young mids and the addition Caddy, I can't see Jimmy getting quality mid time.

Martin averaged 92 last year if you take out the last game where he hurt his hamstring. With the usual rumours of improvement, news of a bigger preseason, Choco mentoring him, plus this http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-03-12/get-martin-in-your-fantasy-side
It has to be Martin over Bartel imo

Of those 2, if you have to, if you can't find better, then Martin. And it hurts me to have to say that after that year.

Free up some money for Walker, Rocky, Zorko?

GoLions

They should probably finish the year with similar averages, so may as well get Martin and have the extra cash.

agree with tordoc mainly (and quinny, in that if you MUST then prob martin with the 50k)

Personally I would pay the extra $50k and select Bartel.  I have Jimmy Bartel in my starting line up along with Cox, Tex, and Rocky.
