I don't post much, so i hope some people remember me :P

In 2011 i came 1382 Overall and was honored to make the FF Silver League for 2012 where i made it into the last 4 (i think). Can't remember where i finished and i can't find the 2012 FF Silver thread by search.

So here is my 1st attempt at a team:

Obvious considerations for me to ponder are:

a) the large number of R13 Bye Keepers
b) flavour of the week Karnezis
c) old flavour of the preseason Ball
d) Ever revolving cheapies choices (some who haven't played much).

Each year I've nailed a 'relative' unique and this year I'm going with K.Jack.

Nice solid team mate. Like the unique in karnezis. Only concern is having two premiums in midfield. Should downgrade either player from backline or forward and upgrade player in middle. Other then that nice solid team. Rank 7.4/10

Team is ok staker is injured still. Ball is under done. Check this weekends game.
S kerridge wouldnt put him in the middle. J.s is uncertain.

Welcome back mate and I do remember the name.  Join the FF Group league as well if not done so Code is 526478 Have 95 in at the moment.

Nice team first up.

The only real issue as I see it is you have 9 prems/mid prems with the Round 13 bye. This leaves only 21 players to select best 18 on field from so need to really develop your trading strategy so as to not be disadvantaged in Round 13.

Staker will not play till at least Round 4 so look for a straight swap with Goodes from mids as he wasted there and get another mid rookie,

Watch rookies for being named in Round 1 (Daniher and Docherty may not be named). Would probably move Kerridge forward as well

Rate Team 8.75/10

Def: Would replace Staker with Stevenson other than that a solid defence. The Only problem being 4 of your 6 starting backs have the bye in Round 13
Mids: Kerridge should not in your Midfield there are better options Crouc,Viney,Toumpas,Lonergan.
Rucks: No Problems unless Leuey breaks down again
Fwds: Prefer Kennedy than Karnezis but Karnezis should be a good unique pick.

Overall Nice Team good choice of players on each line with the odd unique 8/10

Thanks for the replies and the advice so far. I foreshadowed a few of the concerns, so I must be on the right track.

I have noticed however most have you have mentioned S.Kerridge, and that he should be pushed forward if kept.

Some food for thought to those reading: This has been key to my overall strategy in previous years, in that, i always have a mid/fwd (and def/mid) rookie in that line.

It allows you to choose from any line for picking your best 22. E.g. Lets say Ablett *knock on wood* has food poisoning round 3.

Instead of 'only' being able to choose from your 2 Mid Bench options, you now have access to your Defense Bench and Forwards Bench.

The same applies for Upgrade/Downgrade Strategy.

E.g. I might want to buy Dane Swan round 6, but my 2 fattest Cows are in the Forward line (Varcoe) and Defense (L.Brown).

Without the flexibility i would have to sell only one of the above and a Mid Rookie who might not be ripe.

In my case i could swap Varcoe and Kerridge, downgrade L.Brown, and upgrade Varcoe to Swan.

I strongly advice investing in a Mid/Fwd and Mid/Def rookies for the Mid Line who will make money in the long run. Even if one is a slow burner, the long term benefit will pay off.

note: I am a League SCoach and build for September, i can see how this isn't ideal for the $50k.

Accept your points on DPP and is sound.

However with the change in rules this year I do not think it is as important as in previous years. I have had it over the last 2 years as well and did not use that much.  Only one I am going with this year is R/F as that one needs to be continued.

tor01doc

DPP less important but will seal the deal if all other factors are equal.

In this case, I agree with the general consensus that you are better off grabbing rookies with most potential in their positions

ie Fewer forward and def rookies than mid, so use guys like Goodes, Colquhoun, Kerridge but not as mid rookies where there is a glut.

Nice team though.

Also you could drop Daniher, swing Kerridge forward, grab a cheaper mid rookie and upgrade Broughton!!
