"GREATER Western Sydney will unveil their latest No.1 draft pick in Sunday's AFL pre-season clashes, but assistant coach Leon Cameron says he may only play half of the season proper.

We're going to be guided week to week ... but you can't expect him to play 22 AFL games. It's too much pressure on the lad in terms of his body and also expectation.

If we got 10-12 games out of Lachie we'd be absolutely rapt."

very few draft picks play the majority of the season anyway, it's too hard for the young bodies. So long as those 10 are the first 10, no issue :P

Whitfield would play 22 games at any other club since he would be their best player

I still don't think he's going to play 22 games,
he'll be rested or rotated as much as every other GWS player did last season. It's a good way to keep everyone fresh, especially since their talented list has such depth

Mr.Craig

Most of the GWS draftees from last year who didn't suffer injuries played between 14 and 18 games. I think he'll more likely be around that range.

Justin Bieber

Should play the same Toby Greene played last year.

not a chance, completely different play styles and builds.

Toga

:-X just brought him into my DT today :-X

Reckon ill keep him though - with O'Meara and Voney on the bench I'm sure at least one will play every week 8)

He looks to be a very good scorer so far in the NAB as well, hope he can continue into the season proper!

Hagebear

Will never be a keeper so as long as be plays the majority of the first 10 weeks it won't matter.

+1

Don't forget that this article was written before the first NAB game. He's proven a lot over the past 2 NAB rounds that he can be very influential for GWS.

Spot on MC. Just need mot of those 14 games to be in the first 8 rounds

Noz

Looked very composed and straight away felt like he belonged at AFL level and into the Giants side.

I'd say he actually looks ahead of most draftees around his age from past years as well.
