Hey Guys, I need some 100% honest input on my team...I've tried a totally different tactic to choose this year and I am a bit worried about it.....

Let me know what you think!!!

Thanks

hardnut

Firstly let me say I applaud this approach and trying to take a different angle but I'm not sure about the make up of this squad.

Risk picks are great but there are a few too many in this make up for my liking a few specifc comments:

Pearce - I like this and think he could do much better at Freo
Lake - Not keen, brought in as a pure stopper and they have soo many good ball distributors down back already
Atley - Might breakout but wont avg >80ppg do you need him and Pearce?

Horsley - Don't really get that pick tbh
Whitfield - Will be ok but think Gaff in 1st year, vest+rests+premium price, you must swap to O'Meara
Jones - Trade for Viney

No Luenberger - I know he's not in full training but he's low risk as everyone has got him, I'd bring him in
McBean - Trade to Witts/Grundy/Daw as you don't have use for the link. McBean wont play

Wellingham - Will be a tagger...
Thornton - ? No clear role description, minimal upside

I hate seeing cookie-cutter teams but think these mods will take your team back from the brink into a interesting but competitive unit.

SydneyRox

call it midpricer mayhem! hardnut covered it pretty well.
get rid of horsley and cripps, replace with rookie and premium
cox into the fwds bring in the berger
thornton and wellingham are horrible....

Colliwobblers

well covered by hardnut but players i would seriously consider

Macaffer - for thronton
Viney - for cripps
O'Meara - for whitfield
Ablett - for horsley
Luenberger - for cox - send cox fwd for wellingham
Daw - for currie
rockliff - for ?

all of that saves you money except for ablett and rockliff which you might be able to afford with the savings....

you don't want to be boring and the same as everyone else, but you do want the best starting squad you can come up with, watch the nab cup and see which rooks are the ones you really want and good luck for 2013.

looks much better, we have to make sure burger is fit through nab cup of course, i like your changes and your team is still a little unique while still having most of the "must haves"

it's great to be unique but not at the expense of doing well.

currie and daw have to fight for the same fwd.pinch hit in the ruck spot, but one of them or maybe both will be a required player.

Witts should get game time i think he is ahead of grundy clearly and surely Jolly will need resting.

thing is Lynch may take the pinch hitting duties in the ruck and the young guys in witts and grundy may spend most of the year developing further in the VFL.

young slightly built ruckman traditionally are useless in the AFL. However the new ruck rules may make skilled slightly built ruckmen in the early stages of their carreers much more viable and effective options for teams...

Good to see O'Meara in there for starters, good stuff, but I have to be honest, I'm not a Stanton fan, I know... throw the abuse at me, haha.

hardnut

nice changes, I don't think Menzel will play early and is having an interrupted pre-season

I've got a few rookies on my radar so will see how they perform during the NAB.

The burges is a tough choice for me...I really have nowhere to go if he tanks, I'll have to downgrade one of my mids.

Other than that I think it's fairly solid. I'm interested to see how Stringer and Vines pull up, my more expensive rookies...

From my team above I have made my changes and think I have my final team sorted.

One thing thats annoying me a bit is I've still got money in the bank....I feel like I can spend that cash ...but where???

Thoughts welcome!!

HERE IS MY TEAM! :)

SilentBob

The team definitely looks better than the early options.
Looks solid on most lines except perhaps the forwards.

There are still a few issues with your latest team.
Injury-wise I think Staker is going to miss the first few rounds, but could be a good option when he returns around round 6 or so. I also think Robbie Gray is missing the start of the season as well.
I'd swap Staker for another rookie who will start in round 1 & use the extra cash left over to turn Gray into someone around $350k in the forwards. Another option could be to bring in another mid rookie (someone like Kane Mitchell) for Embley to have enough cash to turn Gray into a premium forward. You could also go the other way & bring in a forward rookie for Gray & use the extra cash to turn Embley into a premium mid.

Remember, if it was easy to pick the right starting team, then everyone would do it!   :P

first up keep embley.

Go gray to byrnes, gray is a good idea to bring in abit later. leaves you with 135k to spend now i think Fyfe/bennel to Pendles woudl be a great move. Pendles for me is one of the best picks out there. I would have him ahead of swan in terms of good picks.

the team is nice and unique, wether you will get a benefit from it i think its unlikely. However if your gambles pay off you could have a step up on the rest of the comp.

High Risk High Reward.
