Ablett?

Here is my team at the minute. I'm thinking if I downgrade Pearce (376k) to a good rookie, I could free up some cash to grab Ablett (or someone else?) for someone in my mids...

Thoughts?

I like your structure of setting out your team here :P

I reckon Pearce is a decent D5 and should score decently at the dockers if plays the role he should, good stepping stone to a full premium.

If you want to get rid of him, I reckon go down to Pittard who has been training well at Port and performed well in the intra-club match, then upgrade Stringer to a cheap premo like Cloke, Sylvia, Breust, etc.

Would also consider going Buddy to SJ, Stevie will almost certainly average more this season and is cheaper.

I don't really like Bennell, does he have his head screwed on straight? Will he rip out a few 130+ games followed by 50's and 60's? He's very talented but better choices out there I think.
I'd bail on him for a cash cow maybe a dpp, you only have 4 rooks in the mids which is where a lot of the moneymakers will be early on. With so many trades it'll give you a bit more early season cash and the guys you can then get in there will more than make up for the points you'll lose starting with 1 extra rook.

Thanks for the advice! I haven't researched Pittard yet. For the time being I have ditched Pearce for Stevenson (real cheap for someone with AFL game time exp and should play every game)....which allowed me to upgrade Stanton to Ablett. I think Stanton will score me 100 points a game, 120 on a good day. Whereas Ablett still has the potential to score 150. Is it worth the extra 100k though?

I see where you are coming from, he had a bit of an up and down DT season last year, but I have a feeling this year is going to be a breakout year for him. I can see him and GAJ getting a lot of the footy through the midfield this year. And he pushes forward and kicks goals too.

With the trades I've made, I'm banking 183k....that plus Harley's 438k I really COULD upgrade to any midfielder I want....

Who do you think will be better scoring wise Pearce/Pittard/Stevenson

In short, no. Stants should only average a few points less than Ablett but is 80k lesser priced.

Defs reckon you should use that money on your weak forward line.

Yeah IF Bennell gets his act together he could be a great pick up. You're braver than I'm am there and he did go ok against the Tiges. But it was only preseason/Richmond.
Pearce/Pittard/Stevenson: Pearce is another that seems to lack something between the ears, silky skills and a smart footballer but his dt average belies his talent. Maybe a change of scene is what he needs but I don't know that Lyon is going to give him a great deal of freedom to roam, he runs a pretty tight ship. Pearce may just be a role player there, not great for dt scores.
Pittard/Stevenson are both unproven so watch the NAB closely to gauge where they are at. Scoring wise I think Pearce, but value wise probably Pittard.
If you could get GAJ in, I would. If he's not top 2 in averages I would be extremely surprised.
