Really liking this team!

TEAM NAME: Supercoach Trial
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, P. Hanley, G. Broughton, J. Pittard, J. Thurlow (L. Stevenson, D. Terlich)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, S. Pendlebury, T. Cotchin, D. Mundy, J. Lonergan, K. Mitchell, B. Crouch (J. O'Meara, J. Viney)
RUC: S. Mumford, M. Leuenberger (S. Rowe, B. Grundy)
FWD: D. Cox, T. Rockliff, D. Martin, L. Breust, T. Varcoe, B. Macaffer (B. Staker, T. Lee)
CASH LEFT: $41,400

-Hanley is a massive chance for a 2013 breakout. The word coming out of the Lions is that he has predominately been training with the Midfield group this preseason. He is quite an inconsistent player but if he pushes up he ground more often and collects the 3 or 4 more disposals a game his low will become significantly higher. In the first 6 rounds the Lions play WB, Adel, GCS, NM, Melb and Syd which Hanley averaged a massive 117 on in 2012 from 9 games! Out of those 9 games he topped 100 on all but 1 which was still a great score of 92. His top against these players was a massive 151!!! IMO there is no reason why Hanley won't be pushing the 100 average mark come the end of the year.

-Swan was never on my radar until the the recent article suggesting the pig was in career best shape and was the most impressive on the training track was released. When one of the best players in the AFL are set to be in career best shape you just have to lock him in! Looks good for 128+ average.

-Mundy shows awesome value this year as he is priced at just 89! At the end of last year Mundy came home like a freight train averaging a handing 114 in his last 8 and 120 in his last 5. This was after having a very injury interrupted season causing him to play now where near his high standard. In 2011, if you take out his injury affected game which saw him score 6 he in fact averaged 116 for his 11 games that year. And you could get this for guy priced at 89! Expect a 110-115 average in 2013

-Mumford is very under priced because of a back infection that saw him miss many games and never reach his true potential. The good thing about this injury is that it wont reoccur. He had a better end to the year averaging 112 over his last 5 games of the H&A season, but i think he is capable of much more. At the start of 2012 he was priced at over 600k after his great 2011 which saw him average 112 and finish off the year with an average of a whopping 127 over his last 9 games! He is a great age for a ruckmen (26) and i can see him averaging 115 this year. He is probably a 80% chance of missing a few games but i have Coxy up fwd for cover on the few occasions needed. Some people may not agree on my projection but even if he averaged 110 which i see as his almost bare minimum, he still shows awesome value at a price of just 90 but i truly do see him averaging 110-115 in 2012.

-Breust is one of my only breakout contenders in my 2013 side. He only had 19 disposals or more on 7 occasions in 2012 and they where 24, 19, 20, 21, 19, 19 and 23 disposals for scores of 129, 124, 113, 103, 90, 128 and 90 and an average of exactly 111! And according to this article: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-01-05/a-little-like-gary he looks to be getting more Midfield time in 2013. This is great news as a Hawks supporter but also because he will certainly pump out a lot more 19+ disposal games! And if so he could easily take his average to around the 95 mark and become a solid keeper.

-Varcoe looks to be a solid 2013 pick as he is priced at just 268k. Another great thing about him is he is set to be given a permanent role for the first time in his career, which also seems to be a very SC friendly role off half back. He has shown in the past that he can score an have a reasonable average of 82. With the limited Fwd rookies atm, i think it is vital to have at least 1 midpricer who has good JS which i believe Varcoe has. It will also be handy to have a cheap player who has the capability to score above 100. He has been very inconsistent over his career but i think with his first permanent role he can improve on this and become a player who can average around 80-85. I'm currently tossing up between he and Kennedy for my F5 spot.

So what are your thoughts on my side?

MASTER

Hey bud , you have a very even team , not sure on breust or mundy , but I believe rockliffe & Martin are in for a massive season . Also cox will have another big year with nic nat out ! Im sure you have changed your team over a number of times like all of us , and we will all do final touches as the weeks go on . 8/10 on your team , and I wish you a great season in 2013 !

Thanks Master! Its understandable that you have doubts on Breust because he is a POD for me, but i'm sure Mundy will be in most of the top teams. Yeah i think Martin will have a breakout year but unsure whether Rocky can beat his 2011 average. I think Cox can average 120 with NicNat gone but when he comes back he will slowly decline to an average of around 110 come years end. I hope you have a great 2013 too!

ditto with Master, not sure about Bruest
I would prefer Goldy over Mumford (inj & suspension concerns)
Dusty could have a great year or be a basket case... who knows with him..? SC wise he needs to string full games together rather than just 70-90 point halfs
rookies not much point atm a lot of water to go under the bridge there
apart from that good looking team and Hanley/Mundy could be very handy PODs

No real issues.  As I posted in another thread Rocky was training with the midfield group in the session I attended so all well there doe maintaining SC average. Another good selection with Hanley as he and Rich appear to be interchanging on the HB flank which augers well for Hanleys Sc score as well.

Gutsy call on Mumford with his injury concerns and change in ruck rules. With 30 trades however will be a good call early in the season.

Also like the selection of Breust as a POD.

With 30 trades for the season you can afford to take some risks but not too many so trades are not wasted.

Thanks heaps Ringo! You always have great things to say! I totally agree, with the extra trades you can afford to take a couple risks but i wouldn't go with 4 or more risks. I currently have the 3 in Mummy, Hanley and Breust and thats as many as i'll ever have or else you are just ready to burn those extra 6 trades.

because of the extra trades i have Sandi in my team atm, worth the risk cause he is a scoring machine and new ruck rules should help his height adv over everyone else
