QuoteEssendon midfielder David Zaharakis has sustained a grade one strain to his quad and is expected to miss two weeks of training.

General Manager - Football Danny Corcoran said there was still a possibility of Zaharakis taking part in the NAB Cup.

“It is not a severe injury so we are hoping he will see some NAB Cup action and be right for round one,” Corcoran said.

“It is a different injury to last time but it is grade one and he will miss two to three weeks."

The Bombers open their NAB Cup campaign against Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs on February 15.

Was never on my round 1 radar.

He was close to a lock in my side when he was DPP, but absolutely no chance as a pure mid.

Wasn't a lock but was a much better chance when he had dpp.

Prior to the injury I was actually considering him as my M5. Priced at 83, he averaged 91 before his injury last season - including 5 100+ scores. He could've really stepped up in 2013 considering the Don's recruited Goddard in the off-season to help out in the mids meaning he'd be fourth in line for a tag behind Stanton, Jobe, Goddard.
