A few coming back from injury.  A few I hope will make a step up.

I am taking a punt on Cloke.  Hoping for improvement from Brennan and Martin, I have read both are taking their preseason more seriously.  Hoping Thornton has a stellar year at GWS (he'll see more of the ball in that teams back line).  As a Richmond supporter I am wishing Ben Griffiths takes the next step.

I do not expect my team to look anything like this by round 1 but would appreciate your thoughts.

Defenders.... you need to pick defenders who are responsible for kicking out from the back line, half back flankers who get possessions and deliver the ball outside 50 and are on the receiving end of possession chains.....

Hanley can do it, Brennan has been terrible since moving to the Gold Coast and the fact you have 3 key defenders is not very good from a fantasy point of view..... you need to consider players like Goddard, Duffield, Birchall and Suckling

Midfielders.... Top 2 mids in the game is a good start...  Swallow, Rockliff are players who are role players who do what is required but risky as at their price you need them to average 110+ to be worth starting with... Hartlett and Conca dont have a set role for their team and their team mates around them are not good enough at the moment for them to consistently put up big numbers.... the top 2 draft picks.... you need to pick one of Whitfield or Rourke for the same reason as Conca and Hartlett (high risk, high reward) but too expensive to have both, Wines is a good pick but Tom Couch has NO job security.....

Rucks OK........... picking 2 NM rucks is not a good idea as they will have the same bye and Currie has no JS....... better off picking someone like Grundy or Vardy as they are in teams with aging ruckmen who need to groom their next group of ruckmen.

Forwards

Martin coming off a shocking year and has personal issues outside of footy... NO, Cloke was terrible last year and with Dawes gone will get double teamed most games, Hampton plays for a team that cant score, Knights not a noted goalkicker

you need at least 1 of Franklin, Johnson or Pavlich as a super premium as your current forward line is weak on consistent performers your rookies look okay however
