Beau Wilkes changes his name to Beau Maister

ST KILDA utility Beau Wilkes has formally changed his name to Beau Maister.

He officially changed to his mother’s surname name on Wednesday.

“It’s a personal decision that I have been thinking about for a while.  I just felt now is the right time to change my name.  I feel strongly about the decision I’ve made,” Maister told Saints.com.au.

“The paperwork went through this morning so now I can focus on footy with the NAB Cup just around the corner.”

Coincidentally Maister has family ties in Christchurch and with the Saints playing in Wellington for the first time this year, he said it was fitting the club is playing a game in New Zealand.
“With New Zealand being our new home-away-from home, it’s nice for me to have this connection personally now too.”

The Saints will play the first game for premiership points outside of Australia on April 25 at Westpac Stadium.

Haha i just read this on the AFL site, it gave me a little laugh.
On a serious note though, He must have some real problems with the old man to go through with a name change.
