WEST Coast Eagles are set to pull off potentially the biggest shock of the final draft process for the year with an AFL recall to premiership big man Mark Seaby.

Seaby, 28, is looming as the frontline candidate to resume at his original AFL club as crucial big man insurance with mounting fears that gun ruck force Nic Naitanui could miss the start of the new premiership campaign after late groin surgery.

His presence on West Coast’s list is also believed to be considered vital support to ease another anticipated heavy workload on veteran ruck star Dean Cox as the six-time All-Australian big man enters his 13th AFL season at the age of 31.

No faith in Lycett?
yeah, seems a bit 'backwards' to me ...

although ... maybe just depth cover??

Lycett is still very raw but I agree. Massive backwards step if we do get Seaby.

LF

They really need to steer clear of him.
He wasn't really that good before when we had him hence why he ended up not getting games.
It's a desperate act just to try to cover Natanui and the loss of Lynchy.
Just give Lycett a go it's only for a few games and you never know he might surprise them and really stand up and do well.

elephants

Yep, I wanna see more of ScottyL. Was meant to be a massive steal at pick 36 or whatever :)

Ricochet

I actually dont mind it. Obviously Lycett isnt ready for AFL yet so they're after the quick fix in the mean time.
Like the article says, it would give a lighter load to Cox which will be especially important leading up to finals

elephants

Would prefer taking a wafl ruck than Seaby :-\ Coxy is a machine and Lycett would learn a lot from him.

Capper

Would be interesting to see if he knees hold up

Mailman the 2nd

Seaby is actually better than some of the 1st ruckman in several teams.

Don't discount him

Obviously he's a terrible fit in at West Coast and I definitely wouldn't be getting him.

I was thinking more the development teams :P
