GWS wants to gain the first 3 picks in the draft.
Finishing last secures pick 1
Trades Martin to Gold Coast for pick 2
Trades Hogan to Melbourne for pick 3

Thus pretty much securing Whitfield, Grundy, Tumpas, I don't think the AFL has understood just how much they have given GWS over Gold Coast. Not to mention teams like Port and Melbourne will continue to struggle since the AFL gave GWS such a high advantage.

Do you think the AFL has given GWS a massive advantage and do you think they should have gotten a mini draft this year?

what good is three more 18yr olds going to do? stupid Giants need to get some senior players or get flogged again next year, then more 18yr olds :P and so on...

Justin Bieber

Silly statement tba.

But yeah that is unfair for the GC.

Are Martin or Hogan worth those picks? And is that already done deal?

They are just gettign there team ready for Roosy to take over in 2014, once he is there then he will bring in more senior players and talk about it more on the couch

mean while melbourne Bulldogs and Port lanquishing at the bottom not getting the top picks they need to fast track them back into the finals?

yeah, we're going to get flogged next year as well most likely... but come 2014/2015, we're going to be doing the flogging ;)

Melbourne tanked to get Scully. Tom isn't going to ever turn out to be the best player in that draft. Melbourne were able to turn a failed number 1 pick into a #4 pick and another pick in the teens. GC won't bid on Viney, so Melb will be able to get him with their 2nd round pick. They're doing okay.

The Bulldogs were able to get two bargains in the draft 2 years ago when GC got just about everything else. Wallis would have gone top 3, Libba would have been a first rounder.
They also traded Jordan McMahon to Richmond for a pick, which they used on Callan Ward. They've managed to turn Jordan McMahon into pick #6 in this year's draft. They're doing okay.

Things don't look good for Port though.

Maybe the AFL could bring in the mini draft every year for the team that finished last.

dw, the afl's put in a system to cover clubs if it looks like they're struggling. Port will probs end up with priority picks/ a mini draft in a couple of years

the AFL put a lot of effort into expanding the competition into 18 clubs, they're not going to let one fold :P

We will last until the end of the tv deal (2016) after that we need to have improved (i.e. crowd numbers @ Adelaide Oval need to be 25-30k average). If that happens we'll stick around. :)

I suppose it's plausible they'd get relocated to tassie?
