its well known essendon has an abundance of ruck options with three players that could all be potential starting ruckmen, and with our next draft choice going to ruck/forward daniher we could have 4 playable ruckmen.

the way i see it is:

belly is a pure ruckmen and is not as effective resting forward.

hille is getting old but is a more effective resting full forward then bellchambers.

ryder i think is our best option resting forward and our best option as full time ruck. and i really think given the job as sole number one ruck like a mumford, sandilands, maric or jacobs he could really start dominating the league with more time on the ball and shorter rests forward.

and daniher i think will be better as a player that spends more time forward and pinch hits in the ruck as he is so damn thin yet agile and a great mark overhead

so what i think could be a great move for the bombers is this:
we trade bellchambers as he should also thrive as a lone ruckmen, for a midfielder to add outside running depth. someone who is a clean ball user by foot with some pace. I'm not exactly sure what type of player boak is but maybe bellchambers puts us in the race for him?

we then draft daniher and for at least his first season he will play only a few games mainly as ruck or forward line insurance whilst he develops his frame and strength. ryder now becomes the go to ruckmen with hille playing forward with hurley and possible gumby (but probably not)

once daniher is ready after 1,2 or 3 seasons hille is ready to retire/be traded/lose his spot and we now have ryder holding down full time ruck responsibilities with daniher playing key forward and pinch hitting in ruck and either a newly drafted 3rd ruck or hille still there as insurance for a season or 2.

this way we don't have quality players sitting out just because they cant be squeezed into the side, we get value back for the player that doesn't fit (belly as he is not as effective as a forward) and our real star is able to thrive under the responsibility of being the main ruckmen and hopefully fulfill his potential!!

which essendon fans out there would love to see this plan unfold like me?
which essendon fans have a potentially better option going forword?
any non bomber fans have interest in a trade that we could acquire a mid for tom bellchambers?

No. Hille is nearly done & we need Belly. No. No. No.

Plus Ryder doesn't have the tank to ruck with just Daniher.

Ryder can't ruck by himself for long stretches, Hird has said this in the past.
But perhaps the weapon can fix this problem.

I am on the fence about Bellchambers, he has talent but doesn't work well with Ryder, he takes too much ruck work away from Ryder because he can't play forward well. When Hille is in the team ruck work is more even and this is better for Ryder.

We would need a real good prospect to trade Bellchambers, plus Hille has about 3 years left I reckon

This. You would be better off sticking with Belly, getting him to work on his forward game, to make him at least some sort of possible threat while resting forward, and rotate Ryder and Belly through the ruck

TheHanger

Ryder needs at least 50% ruck time to achieve full potential

Don't like this idea at all.
What happens when Ryder is out injured? Hille is an absolute spud and Daniher won't be ready.
