______________________________________________

Dear members,

Many of you will now be aware our CEO Eugene Arocca has tendered his resignation, effective immediately.

Eugene has been a great servant of our football club during four and a half years at the helm.

In that time, he's overseen the dissolving of our shareholder structure and returned us to a member-owned club, built a $15 million facility and achieved a club record membership figure of just under 33,000.

We've significantly boosted football department spending and pushed into Southern Tasmania and regional Victoria while also creating a great alliance with the City of Ballarat - the list goes on.

In any way you measure Eugene's contribution, it has been immense and we thank him for it.

He will always have great friends here at Aegis Park for many years to come.

As a club, we must now look forward and leave no stone unturned to find the best CEO available to continue to grow our business in all the key areas.

Cam Vale will step in as interim CEO until a replacement is found and he is a highly talented and capable individual that will have an important role to fill over the coming months. He will have great support from a first class administration and we will continue to strive for success both on and off the field.

This is a great team, with great people at all levels and we have a strong strategy in place to deliver long term stability and profitability to Aegis Park.

While the results on the field haven't been great in recent weeks, I have faith in our team led by Brad Scott to turn things around in the second half of the year.

Right now, we need our great and loyal family of members to stay the course with us. It's in times like this, we all need to stick together and support our players to the best of our ability.

Finally, please join me in wishing Eugene and his family all the best for whatever endeavour he next pursues.

Regards,
JB

This was taken from North Melbourne's Facebook page...

A message from Eugene Arocca:

""I would like to acknowledge our amazing supporters and urge them to continue to back the club in and get right behind the mighty royal blue and white.

"North Melbourne has been a big part of my life for the past five years and I hope to remain part of the Kangaroo family for a long time to come."

roo boys!

At least he will be staying a member of North like he said, but just looking at his achievements in his 4-5 year tenure, you really want him at the helm.

Development of our new, state of the art $15m training and administrative facilty
Brought North's membership from 23,000 in '08 to nearly 33,000 this year
Moved the club from shareholder ownership back to the members
Revenue growth of about $7m in the space of 4 years

He will be missed at the club.

And now the board has been labelled a 'cartel' under Bradshaw's leadership......

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/137959/default.aspx

Joseph said since taking over at North in late 2007 Brayshaw had fashioned a board around him that excluded traditional football people.

"I think there is an unhealthy cartel within the club, one that tends to put itself before the club," Joseph said.

"I'm not saying that they know that they're doing it, but it happens.

"If you don't have free argument and free discussion and people that really know what the game and football is about, then you get these little cartels making all the decisions.

"But if they're taking the club the wrong way then that's very dangerous."

PowerBug

If anyone saw the Footy Show last night (before we were greeted with Sam Newman's arse) James Brayshaw was attacked with questions by Damien Barratt about this topic, was certainly interesting to hear what he had to say on the matter and on North as a whole.

is there a youtube link for Brayshaw's comments?
