I know this is light in the midfield, but I think Swift, Shiels and Tengove could all be keepers, or at least that they will get to ~$450,000 from where I can upgrade to a premium.

So anyway here's my team:

Goddard, Hodge, Gilbee, Carrazzo, Gram, Hunt, Waters + (Sheppard, Moore)
Ablett, Vince, Swift, Shiels, Trengove, Martin + (Morabito, Bastinac)
Jolly, Tippett + (Warnock, Skipper)
Goodes, Riewoldt, O'Keefe, Pavlich, Polkinghorne, Lobbe, Davis + (Tapscott, Dennis-Lane)

brilliant backline but terrible midfield, but could make money in early rounds

I agree...Huge punt the kids will get games...If none do, YOU'RE SCREWED

Watto

Yeah well apparently Shiels is dominating all things fitness at Hawthorn, and Swift is going solidly for the Weagles.

I agree Trengove and Martin really need to get games for this to work, but even if it doesn't I can downgrade Tippett to Charman, if he plays, and upgrade my mids

Watto

@bjrouse - who are you referring to as 'the kids'?

Resch

I don't mind the rookie midfield starters strategy - thinking of using it myself.

Your forwards do look a problem though.  Needing two of Lobbe, Davis, Tapscott and Dennis-Lane to play is a big risk.

Even if Lobbe plays his scoring will be terrible and he won't be that much of a cash cow - he is the MPP ruck backup so could be useful for that.  I see him more of a downgrade target later in the season.

I think you could add another mid-price potential breakout forward to lower you risk a little - the likes of Dangerfield, Henderson, Kennedy, Mayne etc.  Polkinghorne types.

As with all of us - review rookies post NAB Cup

waters might not play come round 1.
jolly might see a scoring decrease because of the change of teams. Sydney was a stoppage team. collingwood aren't and jolly also have fraser and wood to share time with (fraser a wing type player i heard).
swift should improve and i would keep a close eye on shiels to see if he fits into the hawks line up with other youngsters coming through
.
gone with a 2 rookie starting strategy myself as thats where all the good rookies are this year. 8)
