Trade options

Hi team

I'm wondering about my options in defence, not a lot of people going all that well, and I have a carrot to get rid of...

Current team:
Def: Goddard, Deledio, Carazzo, Hargrave, Bugg, Mohr, Morris (Ellis, Smedts)
Mid: Ablett, J.Selwood, Boyd, Priddis, McDonald, Magner (Fyfe, Shiel)
Ruck: Cox, Giles (Redden, Stephenson)
Fwd: Franklin, Pavlich, D.Martin, Dangerfield, A.Christensen, A.Kennedy, D.Smith (Milera, A.Hall)

21 trades to use, only 4k in the bank.

My trouble is I have to replace a defender, but there are no decent ones out there at the moment and I haven't got a DPP defender in my mids or fwds. I'm thinking of trading Carazzo and Fyfe out for Marty Clarke and Pendlebury. No Collingwood players in my current team. I realise I'm late on the clarke train, any better options to make a bit of money off? I'm def gonna win this week even with my current team, I'm mainly pulling the trigger on Fyfe as I think he's too big a risk and will drop another 50k if he plays.

My other option is that I plan on bringing in Goodes soon and dropping Dustin Martin, could swap Fyfe into forward line and then trade Fyfe and one of smith/kennedy to Goodes and Treloar, leaving 70k in the bank. Bench Carazzo, then next week go Carazzo/Dusty to Pendles and someone else (clarke or another useful cheapy) once pendles has dropped again.

I know I'm dropping prems but they aren't scoring... I lose 4 trades to get 2 performing guns and 2 money earners... Barring injury I would sit on that squad for a while...

Thanks for advice!

Duffield, Hurn, Malceski, Birchall are all legitimate options.

The value in dropping/sideways trading any under performing premium has well and truly past.  If Fyfe plays on Friday night, you surely have to keep him.

Why? Everyone took the hit when he got injured, but he hasn't dropped since then... If he plays, he takes on a b/e of nearly 200, with a dodgy shoulder that might need surgery later in the season, and could severely curtail his scoring potential. Even if it doesn't affect his scoring, he drops about 50k with the threat of withdrawing later in the season
All that adds up to an unnecessary risk in my book.

Personally, if I had known he would 100% play the week after, I would have kept him.  The premium forwards look slim, and there are not many that can match his ceiling.  He averaged close to 110 SC last year with his shoulder popping in and out throughout the season.

Big risk in keeping him, but also big rewards if he maintains last years average when everyone traded him.  Becomes a POD, and worth putting your season on the line for it.

The Bomber

the b/e doesn't matter if you have faith he will be a keeper by the end of the year...also you could go to dusty or stevie at a ridiculously low price later on anyway

Hmm. Yes a risk either way I guess...

Ok so what do you say to leaving Fyfe, and trading Dusty with Carazzo to Pendle and Clarke?
Can't afford any of Birch, Hurn, Malceski or Duffiled on top of Pendles... need a sub 300 defender.

charliesheen

Just sideways carrots and grab pendles through a downgrade/upgrade cycle.  No point trading Dusty now, dropped price way too much.

Thanks CS, you make valid points...
What do you think of Michael Johnson?

Pendles is predicted to bottom out next week, if I go Carazzo to Johnson I have 48k in the bank, should be enough to go Magner/Shiel to Pendles and a rookie next week...

thanks dude!

MJ fits into the category where

success = you look like an absolute genius
failure = you need another trade to fix it and you end up in tears.

I guess the question is whether you want to put yourself in that position.
