Rocky/Kennedy is not the worst option.  I would be inclined to go

Redden > McDonald
Ledger > Treloar

Upgrade Congilio in a few weeks to someone like Pendlebury.

but I just realised with Ablett being out, i will be playing 4 rookie mids :/ I could just go Redden to Thompson and then wait for my rookies to earn more money and hope that some super premiums drop in price :)

Don't take Thompson.  McDonald is simply a must have rookie.

Starting Treloar, McDonald, Magner, Shiel is not the worst combination, basically highest potential scoring rookies.  If you are scared, have Conigilio emergency and don't use captaincy loop hole.

If you can hold out 1-2 rounds with McDonald & Treloar, Sam Mitchell & Pendlebury are going to be dirt cheap.  Also gives you potentially the best cash cows.
