What are your thoughts?

Backs: Goddard (vc), Hodge, MacDonald, Gilbee, Kennelly, Josh Hunt, Sheppard (Phil Davis, Dylan Grimes)
Mids: GAJ (c), Joel Selwood, Cooney, Mark McVeigh, Dangerfield, Morabito (Bastinac, Lewis Jetta)
Rucks: Cox, Sandilands (Lobbe, Jackson Trengove)
Forwards: Nick Riewoldt, Deledio, Franklin, Hall, Mayne, Burton, (Watts, Gumbleton)

Dees for the Draft

Goddard is very expensive.  He'll definitely drop in price.

Not sure about Macca Jnr - I've seen a few teams with him in.  I wouldn't make a decision on him until pre-season.  It depends on the role he's playing.  Brisbane backs score well so that could mean that he's overpriced.

Hall is a risk.  I'd more Danger to the forward line and bring in another midfielder.  Not sure about Spike McVeigh either.

Roo is a risk with his dodgy knee also - he'll likely drop in price.

good 1st draft i agree danger should be a forward and i wouldnt spend so much on my ruck division

thanks for the feedback thus far guys. 2 responses with no scathing reports is a good start considering I haven't had a real look at who's available for what, just a quick scan thus far.

Has anyone used Monty's pre-SC prices in previous years? If so, how did they compare? I'm interested to know whether my team (and various other incarnations of it over the next couple of weeks) is reasonably close to what I'd be able to select or not.

Obviously a big influence over the end result will be NAB Cup for guys in new teams like Hall, Joel MacDonald etc and how guys like Hunt return from injury (and Kennelly from a layoff).

I agree that Spike is a huge risk, not just because he didn’t play much last year but neither the year before. Time will tell if he stays, most likely a bit too injury prone but hey, I’m a Dons man and at this stage I can afford to go with a bit of sentiment. If he stays fit he’ll be a bargain (a big IF)

Take 2.

Backs: Newman, Hodge, Pratt, Gilbee, Kennelly, Josh Hunt, Sheppard (Phil Davis, Maguire)
Mids: GAJ (c), Joel Selwood, Cooney, Green, Boak, Morabito (Bastinac, Lewis Jetta)
Rucks: Cox, Kruezer (Lobbe, Jackson Trengove)
Forwards: Nick Riewoldt, Deledio, Franklin, Dangerfield, Mayne, Burton, Jack Trengove (Watts, Gumbleton)

A few points I've learnt today have influenced some changes, plus I've had a better look at the list. How will Goddard adapt to a midfield role, how will MacDonald adapt to the Dees, have we forgotten how good Pratt was in 2008 before an injury interupted 2009, Green got banged up last year but has been consistently good otherwise, Boak is set for a key mid role at Port, Jack Trengove is a gun (I watched him in the SANFL finals last year) etc

Blueboys

Risky players:

Mark McVeigh
Hall,
Mayne
Burton

Rest looks good  ;D

Great team

Defence is pretty good but watch out for gilbee to get tagged like he did last year (why else do you think he is so cheap?)

Mids are good and nice to see a person having green in their side. Plays for melbourne and one of their best players. Boak was set for a big year last year and didn't show much.

Rucks are set up nicely.

Forwards are good. Franklin is ok but is risky since he goes up and down every week. If you want to free up some cash, could downgrade burton or mayne (depending on who you like better) to cunnington or bastinac who will both play early if not injured for some extra cash.
