Is it too late to go the 3 rook ruck strategy?

Mr Adams

Currently have Mumford, Jacobs (Redden, Giles).

I can see that the 3 rook strategy could well have been the way to go from the beginning, but was too soft given my experience last year having Ryder stink it up in R2. Those with 3 ruck rooks are using those extra premium points to really get ahead early.

I was thinking of downgrading Mumford, bringing in the big O, and upgrading a rook to premo in my forward line. I'll give Broughton one more week.

Anyone else on the same wavelength here? Need to get my teams sorted for league wins.

Cheers.

Not too late at all... but a waste of 2 valuable trades it is.

Colliwobblers

mumford and sauce are great ruck picks would not make sense to downgrade either.

The season is long and you will upgrade fwd mid or def rooks to a premium when your opponents are upgrading thier ruck 2, it will all balance out, giles and or redden will have shockers smith did last season all rooks DO.

When they do you will win your league games and get more points for overall. Stick to your (RUCK) Guns very nice picks IMO apart from cox you have 2 of the best rucks going.

i have 1+3 rooks but that doesnt change my opinion here given the season has started

CFC 1979

save your trades

if your going for league wins start checking who you play rnd 11,12+13
check thier teams for structure

you may need 6 or more trades for those rounds alone
24 - 6 = 18

23 rounds to go and you will need all those trades

Mr Adams

Ok thanks for the insight fellas.

You're right Colli, the rooks will all have shockers. Plus, Brogan and Lobbe will be back at some point.

CFC, that's a good call re: waiting till those bye rounds. I suppose in my mind I was going for a high overall place this year, and it was in this area that I can see myself falling behind in the early stages.

Given that I have a few cash leagues on the go, you're right my focus should be on winning those league games.

Cheers.

I reckon it would be silly to waste the trades on it now. Everyone with 3 rookie rucks is planning on upgraded to 2 premo rucks once we can afford it. You'll not only be wasting trades to go to 3 rookies but trades again to get back a premo ruck later on! You've still got the best 2 rookie rucks on your bench anyway that you can cash in later so your not really missing out on much.

Agree with Twinkle.  You will be wasting trades going this strategy now.  Mumford will improve and Jacobs pulled out 102 points last week. Both of these imo will be in the Top 7 Rucks at seasons end.

Say Both average 100 you have 200 points. You will not be loosing any points to those of us who have gone a 1/3 strategy. Both rooks will be making money for you on the bench and will give you the opportunity to upgrade if needed.

If you had a premium like mummy and a mid pricer like Hale/HMcIntosh etc then maybe it would make sense to downgrade the mid pricer to fix a problem elsewhere in your team.

Makes zero sense to trade out a premium when both played ok ... esp. after 1 round.
+1 on the above two comments.

I have Jacobs as first ruck because of his easy draw so i would stick with Jacobs.Only use trades early for injuries.

This has been on my mind too. The set and forget rucks are not so set and forget now. I'm going for overall and splashed out on cox and mumford for obvious reasons. Its not so much that these two aren't performing, it's the fact that giles is! If he keeps tonning it up against opposition like McIntosh, Goldstien, and Mumford he just may be able to keep it up until the byes. If this happens everyone who has gone set and forget can kiss the overall goodbye. Even though he will make a great Moo Cow we are missing out on valuable points by not having a extra premium on the ground. For 2 weeks now the extra $$$ spent on mummy could of pushed my 2150 scores to 2250 2300. This has been a frustrating oversight on my behalf as i didnt think Giles would perform this well. The test will come next week when he is up against big cox and nic nat or when brogan comes back in, But at the moment if he keeps scoring like this I'm screwed for overall unless he falls in a hole soon.
I agree we shouldn't make the trade but maybe we cant afford not to, 120 pts a week and counting. My midfield or backline could really do with another gun. Is anyone else with set and forget rucks seeing the leading pack getting away?

Seems like even in the rucks the mid-price was the way to go this year. Probably your best bet if any changes are warranted.
