Matthew Leuenberger?

After his massive finish to last year I had this bloke locked in. Have since moved to a 1-3 ruck strategy and put Cox in instead. Felt like I needed that certainty with Giles on the park too. But... should I trust my gut? Massive break out last year from Leuenberger and tempting as a POD and to use the 100K elsewhere. What do people think? Can he repeat or improve on last years average?

cheers

Not in a 1-3. Not consistent enough.

I have been facing the same situation.  I am going a 1/3 Ruck strategy but this week played Reddan on the ground so hope he can pull out a big one. (Thought Mummy would stiffle Giles but how wrong).
Back to question:
I had Cox but by downgrading him to Berger it enabled me to go Scott Thompson as my m4.
My Rationale is that with Thompson you would get an average of say 105/110 based on last years form and Adelaide will improve this year.
Berger will probably average 100+ if he maintains end of last years form where he averaged 105 from the last 11 games.
Cox averaged 107 last year but will this fall this year with the continuing emergence of Nat.
Say he drops to an average to 105 and Berger averages 100 the extra 5ppg I pick up with Thompson in the mids so imo the extra $100k should be spenr strengthening your team elsewhere but as always go with gut feel.

If your going to use a 1-3 strategy my thinking is that you should have the best ruckman as your R1. Cox is a proven high scorer dont think berger is up to his level just yet.

Yeh i think those score may be DT Ringo. Cox up at around 120 last year and the Berger 105. I think the L Berg had a blistering second half of the year but yeh with 3 rookies and I am struggling to pull the trigger and replace the consistent Cox. Does anyone think it's worth the cash? Could allow me to upgrade a few rookies and have some cash in hand, only $100 in the bank at the moment.

His finish to last season was SC gold and I had him locked in at the start of the year but have changed my mind. With them picking up Ben Hudson and Brown being injured early I am kind of worried. I think if he is forced to play forward his scores will be lower like Mitch Clarks were. If they play Hudson and Leuenberger, Hudson is more likely to spend time in the middle as he has never really been a good forward option. I have changed him over to Sam Jacobs for the time being. Jacobs will be the unchallenged number 1 ruckman in Adelaide and he has a soft schedule early in terms of ruckman he plays.

@thebrock definitely SC as I only do SC Cox.s 2011 average 107.5 and Bergers 92 Was just highlighting Bergers final 11 games where he averaged 105.4 and saying if he maintains that average then scores will be close.

Regards Berger and wait for teams to be announced there is a strong possibility Lions will be playing Berger forward and Longer in the Rucks. This was the structure used in the last NAB cup with Longer and Berger interchanging.  This will probably be the case till Brown comes back so need to factor this into your decision making.
