Mature age player. averaged 62 in nab and played every game. seemed like the tall defender hawthorn has been crying out for since croad left. i reckon he could seal a spot in there backine. ala harry taylor in 2008?

JS in a top 4 side is a big risk

Nah, guy's a spud (delisted from Bulldogs ffs). Zero job security. Has a tough start to the year. Will be forced to lock down the opponents' key forward each week, and if he gets murdered (like Clarke did to him) he could be easily dropped.

Jarrad Boumann actually looks the goods, got a nice size about him and he uses the ball well when he has it in his hands.
The hawks have been producing cash cow specials over the last few years, last year you had 6 pearlers that made alot of cash Puopolo, Smith, Bruest, Savage, Shiels & Suckling.. Shiels and suckling's prices were a bit inflated around the $220k mark but still they hit the $500k mark.
In 2010 you had Ben Stratton who played in his 1st year after being drafted and he had a significant price rise.
In 2009 no one really debuted for the hawks.
In 2008 you had Cyril who was good get from the start of the season.
I'm basically trying to say to not count Boumann out as a potential cash cow, hawks got him for a reason and he will play early. If he performs well Gilham might find it hard to get back into the hawk best 22. He will not set the house on fire but he will score better than what people think.
He also finished 3rd in the B&F for Box Hill last year on 42 votes, winner Sam Gibson 58 votes. Capped of a good year with Most consistent award at Box Hill.
I can see Boumann consistently scoring 65-70 each week, when the bye rounds come he will be ready to offload.
Could be a fantastic unique rookie that could score higher than your Morris' & Wilkes sort of rookies.
If named in round 1 he is worth a D9 position in your team.
The hawks also like to over possess the ball, I am positive they will use Boumann regularly as a link up player in defence, liek I stated earlier, he uses the ball well.

If you couldn't get a guernsey at the Bulldogs when they were screaming out for tall defenders there must be something wrong

Mmm that was 2010, two years ago. In 2010 stkilda were, grand finalists, west coast were bottom four, Ricky nixon had respect, Ben Cousins was playing, James hird was in the media, Gaz was at geelong, James magner, puopolo, isaac smith and hibberd weren't on lists, pods and barlow were in their first years, Heppell, Swallow and darling were still in high school and channel 10 was doing the football. a week is a long time in football let alone two bloody years. a hell of a lot can change in two years including a young tall back maturing.

I just don't get how he'll keep his spot. Guerra,Birchall,Stratton,Gibson,Puopolo,Burgoyne,Ellis,Suckling and Gilham to come back. I keep having this dilemma with rookies/cheapos from good teams ;see also Bower,Clarke,Lucas.

See also Guthrie,Hogan and Smedts.
