A slightly different take on Ruck strategy.

Rucks are doing my head in. Usually an advocate of the set & forget.
However, the clear & obvious one to me this year is the Sausage Guzzler.

I really don't like any others for various reasons. The Berger is the only other one I like the look of, yet I'm still not convinced. So I may need to trade to the form ruck anyway.

ATM I'm going Mummy plus 3 rooks (big O, Giles & Redden/Jenkins/Derickx/?), I will change that unless the 3rd ruck is playing round one.

As such i'm going with 4 mid prem (usually go 3) & bit of extra strength fwd & back, mainly back.

Now I might get howled down for going heavy in the backline as they generally don't score as high. Conversely rookie backs are notorious for scoring crap, so maybe shoring up the backs first isn't a terrible idea.

Thoughts?

I am going for a similar strategy but loading the Fwds rather than backs. So much value/potential fwd this year

Agree but i'm going Guns & rooks, except for 1 mid pricer.

I think there are more quality rooks in the fwds than backs.

I guess this goes against most ppls thoughts, perhaps thats why i like it. 8)

last year the best rookies were down back if i remember correctly, i think your stategy is sound. prem mids always score the most compared with any other possie so go for it
remember heppell, duigan, lower, puopolo   def rookies are sometimes gems, go and find them ;)

Totally agree with 1 prem 3 rookie ruck set up this year. Giles looked really good in the first hit out and good back up on the bench with the Big O.

Giles will be the biggest cash cow of the year, after round 11 (or possibly earlier) upgrade to Cox and he's done his job.

The other reason I support this strategy is the SUB RULE. I cannot see Giles & the O wearing a green vest.

I see lots of teams with 2 starting rookies in DEF, MID & FWD (sometimes even 3 starting rookies) to fit 2 prem rucks under salary cap. Guys such as Morris Ellis Smedts Walsh Saad Zorko etc etc are PERFECT SUBS and will most likely be wearing the vest more often than not, affecting their scores & value for upgrades.

Perhaps i have & I still don't like the look of them. Hard to comment as you haven't listed any, you're just suggesting you know better. That's fine by the way it just doesn't help me. For your own interest I had all four you named 3 from the start (hep duig & lower) last year, i think.

i keep trading strategies but look l,ike going kruzer instead of luey, cox, goldy, or mummy. and going 4 prem mids
