What are people's thoughts on picking up Montagna this season.

I haven't seen many people talking about him and he's cheap enough to be missed if you're scrolling down looking at the top mids.

I really think he could be a great pick up this season. The bargain of the season if he returns to his 09-10 form.

I know last season he disappointed at bit but he did pump out some big, big scores (126, 151, 124, 132, 124) and had 10 tons for the year.

And, as we all know from his previous two seasons he is a DT slut.

Also Hayes is back now, Steven is stepping up and Dal Santo is still there so Joey should get less attention.

What do you think?

My only qualm is how he will be used by the Saints new coach.

Being rested in the nab... A sign of things to come? I don't like it when for 50k more you can get top 6 midfielders like Selwood...

Montagna was a top mid in 2010 and 2009 and is capable of outscoring the current ones on his day.

Will obviously follow how he does in pre-season but could be a great smokey.

I agree he has been a top 6 mid (even top 3 I think?) but is he out of favour? Is he past his best? Ony time will tell but I am not ballsy enough to take a punt.

thats the big thing isnt it with ablett/swan/pendles on the first tier and jelwood/rocky/boyd on the 2nd, montagna could be a great unique for what he can produce.

I reckon Hayes back is the big one for him. he has a huge ceiling and in an off yr still avg 100+

that being said i wont be starting with him

Possibility of bouncing back... Now has Hayes  back to win the ball for him....
