I'm new to all of this but below is my final team before start of NAB, basically could be completely overhauled before start of season but please give me an honest opinion of the below - really looking forward to this, found myself somewhat addicted

A few things i would change personally are get rid of petrie and put chapman in the FWD line. Bring in a midpriced mid like Van Berlo, Barlow ect. remove scotland and use as an upgrade target for the backline and bring in another super prem mid.

Watch NAB closely for the bench and rookie players.

Other than that i like your uniques in murphy and o'keefe. I havent seen those two in many sides and could pay off.

dickitch

Thanks, I actually think I may get rid of Petrie - only reason he is there is due to the name of my side, and at the time of picking i expected him to be a DPP (ruck/fwd), turns out he wasn't.

What is the thought behind removing scotland - he seems good to me, and also dual position?

alexross

You have a DPP rookie in your mids and i believe Scotland could be a little overpriced. Also your prem mids tend to score higher than the prem Backs so if you put him back you have a higher scorer than most in the backline. You could be missing out on some points if you go with him in your mids.

Make sense?

And also if Petrie was DPP i would most likely have him in my team.

dickitch

yeh i think i get you - i suppose i just wait to see what happens with the Rookies in the NAB, could potentially change a lot and open up cash for someone better in that position, few more grand and i may be able to get Fyfe in that position

One thing i would definately change is your DPP's...

Everyone does this without giving it thought.. dont get me wrong the players themselves are good just the position they are within the team.. thinking about it you would want to downgrade a player and upgrade the mid spot, as they are the highest scoring players... you want scotland to be in defence at the end of the season and chappy in the fwd line..

unless your considering downgrading a rookie from the fwd line with a mpp link to the mids i would look at swapping chappy to the fwd and getting an mpp rookie in the mids,
and/or
get put scotland in the backline with mpp rookie in mid... make sense?

just so you have flexibility playing with a prem if something happened to one of your rookies, eg. if they dont play many games and just sit there..

dickitch

I'm not 100% sure I understand this - but are you basically saying ensure the prem players i pick in my midfield are primarily midfielders, as they tend to score better?

altho i don't know, if i swap o'keefe and chapman around what's the difference - in fact i don't think i understand at all  :P

sorry, very new to this

Will try to explain for you:

It is better to have pure Mids in your Midfield - eg say select Selwood as your Mid 3 he is going to score more than Scotland or Chapman. Point I am making is why weaken mids with other DPP Players.  If using DPP Players use rookies to make the move eg if you put Zorko on mid bench then you can move Chapman to Mids from Forwards and then move Zorko to forwards.  Gives you the added flexibility but also enables you to select players where they are prominent in forwards or defence.
So basically I would start constructing your team again  selecting 3 or 4 prem mids and then 4 or 5 prem def or forwards.  Take into consideration byes.

From your Team I would look at replacing Enright with Scotland, Move Chapman to Forwards to replace Petrie then select 2 mids with cash.

dickitch

Ah thank you, I think i understand - problem I have is with moving Scotland to defence to and Chapman to fwds i'm left with $1m to spend on 2 midfielders, so it looks to me like i would just replacing these players with similar or lower averages.  Unless i get a +$600k midfielder and a mid-range - but then i only have 3 prem players in the mids.

This is annoying and stupidly addictive  :P

what about something like this with 1 prem ruck, as i cant seem to work the money to get decent mids

edit: although now i think im a bit messed with byes, rd 11 - main rucks out, rd 12 - 5 of my forwards.  I'm right in thinking there are still Head 2 Heads in the byes right?  cos that's what i'm playing for mainly

dickitch

i think im gonna stop looking at this for a while now and go with the last team i posted for now... just the 1 prem ruck and keep a close eye on the nab to see what i do with the rookies, but keep in mind the byes and dpp using good rookies - thoughts?
