Yeah I had Caddy but then swapped him to Stevens which allowed me to upgrade Patch to Goodes. Went with a similar strategy last year and ended up finishing in the top 1000. Like you said, finished alot stronger than I started. By rd 10 or so I had 6 prem mids, which is the hope for this year...

Hanley could go up to Broughton (who I like) but then a midfielder needs to drop down 50k or so. Goodes to Gray/Adams/Nroo   or   Sidebottom/Danger to Christensen?

*Trying hard to keep byes in mind haha!

I like your backs quite solid, Hanley is a good unique. His scoring might be affected with Merret hopefully having a full season this year?
Interesting mids i think you have one too many rookies and some like Barlow would be better than Stevens.
Rucks hard to go wrong here this season. I think i may also have mumford captain against GWS round 1.
Forwards fairly solid, although im not too sure about sidebottom with everyone else at Collingwood getting all the points they do already and i dont know if Saad will get a regular spot in the team will have to watch NAB Cup for him.
Overall a good team with some nice unique picks, good job mate.

What do you think of Thompson in the middle? Can't settle on my rookies, obviously permitting rd1 availability and NAB form...

i like it it is unique but a little strong fwd and def and a little week in the mid, only concern is the points you will lose each week to the opponents 4th gun premium, could be a LOT, where it might not be many more danger and grimes earn over a rookie to make up for it, but then it could work in your favour also.

still best rooks are mid rooks so its a good strategy and you should come home stronger than you start out, good you got rid of morabito coniglio or wingard would have been better for premium type rooks / sure things, even caddy for 200k

it will be pretty hard to lead from start to finish so i think the 3 mid prem is the best startegy

gotheroos!

thx for helping with my team. a few changes i'd make for ur team

hanley to heppell. grimes to lake (grimes has tough initial fixtures)
also downgrade martin to someone with better early fixtures

use spare money to upgrade one rookie mid to a gun.

Thanks roos, some interesting points to consider, however my selection of Hanley is due to his favourable bye, and I plan on keeping Grimes who I think can easily hit 90+ this year and become a prem defender. The positive with Grimes is that even if he only lasts 10-15 games he'll still rise in price and have been a solid contributer.

Heppell will do well this year, however is a 2nd year player that may be affected by the curse. His bye clashes with Shaw/Grimes and may be a good upgrade target along with Lids for after rd13.

Martin will be a fwd premium this year, and so his initial draw won't matter - his output across the whole season will be 100+ and that is good enough for me at 530k.

I've thought about Lake, but the more I do, the more I think that he'll be sitting out by about rd 6. I can't see him returning to anywhere near his best, and would prefer to save myself 150k by selecting a rookie.

Hmm, not sure about Hanley. For 447k might be some better alternatives. Ruks are great. Slot of people have gone with side bottom   Aka tinass, however I'm not sold. Danger field is a nice unique. Overall 8  out of 10
