How cares if Bailey has been in the AFL system since 2006?

That hardly means he's a bad Ruckman. Assuming Bailey stays fit Hawthorn will be fine. his stats last year show that

"Who will be the Hawks no 1 ruckman"  lol .. do they have one .... obviously clarkson doesnt rate ruckmen

Pokerface

Bailey. Easily. He is not a DT or SCer but if he can stop busting those knees he will be one of the premier ruckmen down the track.
You don't need your ruckman to go gathering cheap possessions in the hole for them to be effective.

I encourage everyone who doesn't rate Bailey and/or Hale to look at how they both went last year, especially after the Geelong game when roughy went down. I don't claim them to be world beaters, but personally I think 'not rating' them is a little short-sighted.
Well I could be shortsighted but I stand by my opinion. I just think McCauley will get a sniff at some stage this year. Bailey and Hale need to step up.

IMO when you have that much time out of the game with a maybe a few exceptions a player will never reach their full potential.

JBs-Hawks

If fit bailey is hawks #1 why do u think we traded renouf? he wont score you DT points but he will provide our mids with the ball and he is improving each game he plays.

The Silent Partner

Well you got rid of Renouf and gained McCauley a win IMO

JBs-Hawks

He is just back up and will only ever be back up

I apologise, I didn't mean to make it sound like you didn't have a valid opinion. I just think Bailey, whilst he will never be a superstar, does a solid job and probably will improve again this year. I have no qualms with him being #1 ruck. I also very much expect McCauley to only get games when warrented by injuries to other players.

TheMailman

Well Bailey is better than a lot of Ruckmen currently so Hawthorn don't have a huge problem there.

It should be a priority to help bailey through recruiting etc.

Pokerface

Silent Partner - you wanted to know if others thought McCauley will get games. Every Hawthorn supporter who has responded says no. Ignore this advice if you like, but wouldn't you expect the supporters to have a better idea of the ruck pecking order?

Capper

bails and hale will play most games, bails will start in the ruck and hale up front

frazzles

yeh hawthorn will struggle in ruck divisions, although they have plenty of good ball finders and i imagine buddy can take some fwd ruck contests like he has done in the past. i imagine that some of the tall defenders will help out some of the young ruckmen aswell. roughead will have to be careful and slowly ease back into the role. as for hale well he seems to have been around for years, and yet hes only 27. lol i thought he was like 34. :-[ clazzuc.
im sure thats the hawthorn coachs main worry, ruckmen against hawthorn will most likely tonne up which is good(if u havent got hale/ but then i guess you have an iq of 29 if u have him in ur team)
