What do we reckon? Selwood is a legend, with constantly increasing DT scores over the years. And with the captaincy he is unlikely to be rested throughout the season.

On the other hand, Gibbs has been glorified by Judd and co. during the preseason. in the last 8 games of the 2011 season he averaged around 120 as a dangerous mid who would occasionally float to half forward to kick a goal.

So who to go for in 2012?

I see Gibbs as a moderate risk as his versatility means he can play all sorts of roles. They may average quite similarly but Gibbs could be more up/down. Ultimately Selwood is the safe choice whilst Gibbs could be the smokie that wins it for you (or loses it) so it's a risk appetite thing.

Note: I don't think Selwood being captain will significantly alter his likelihood of being rested. It's not like the Cats are short on leadership across the park. Having said that the rotation policy is a now a stated objective of WCE and Carlton for 2012 so will just be part of the DT landscape. Pies don't tend to rest....

As a blues fan...........Im goin' Selwood ;)

Love Gibbsy but as many have said his versatility is a danger in terms of fantasy unless of course he turns into Goddard!!!! wow! If he plays the mid half forward role I think I might role the dice on him because at the end of last season he was dominating and kicking goals.
Correct me if im wrong but i think he averaged around 120 or something aflter being pushed into a mid floating fwd position.

I think he will average minimum 105 and could explode to 130, so in terms of risk reward at least you know what you will get bare minimum but obviously you ideally want 115 minimum in the mid field.

looking forward to  this season the talk of teams being the same is well gone out the window this year with all the greart options we have in all positions. Good luck

Selwood. Gibbs a good unique this year though.

Both will add points to their average but selwood will still average more.

Mainstream/Safe: Selwood
Risk/Unique: Gibbs
