I don't rate zaharakis as a Premium, Pav hands down regardless of what Lyon does or does not do.

I also rate Pav well above Zaharakis, they are in different leagues.

There's only one Lyon

I don't think it's possible to lock in Pavlich without a good look at him in the NAB cup. Too risky to start off with in my opinion when there are all these young guns who are about to explode. Maybe an upgrade later on

Anyone playing up forward for Freo is likely to see points drop, not rise. Ross Lyons is a defensive coach.

So explain Reiwoldt?

Tall dude, stong mark, ordinary kick, been carrying injuries, not sure what you mean tbh.

I take it you disagree, that's cool, I rated Lyons massively and was gutted when he left, but seriously, he coaches defensive football, load up on Freo backs/mids and avoid their forwards, unless you have a fit Nick Reiwoldt class player at FF that no-one has seen yet.

My point was if Ross Lyon (not Lyons) coaches defensive football then why was Riewoldt a premium who averaged around 100 for 5 years in a row?  He was playing at CHF and IMO his contested marking and goal kicking is worse than Pav's (lets be clear I am not saying he cant take a contested mark).  Roo got most of his mark/kick by getting on his bike and out running his opponent.

2007 and 2008 were the last years Pav played completely at CHF.

2007 - 72 goals, 102 DT (CHF)
2008 - 67 goals, 99 DT (CHF)
2009 - 28 goals, 92 DT (midfield)
2010 - 54 goals, 91 DT (played 3/4 season at CHF)
2011 - 21 goals, 94 DT (midfield)

My point is that a dominant forward will store score well under Lyon and Pav is that type of player.  What happened when Riewoldt got injured - Milne stepped up to be the dominant forward and his output increased to kick 30 goals in 12 games.  Lyon's structure allows for a player to take a big role up forward and I can only guess that Lyon is licking his lips about having Pav up there.

i had zaka locked and ready to go but im reading articles on his tendinitis his knee troubles and his pain,,,,,,,,,

pav is a proven gunish player, if he gets the gig up forward we all know thats where he scores best, zaka was set to have a massive improved year which would have meant 100+ average for him but i dont know about you all, but these articles about his "troubles" are scaring me off meaning the easy answer to your question is P.A.V

Not sure that zaka is the premium that everyone hopes he is right now. Will still take him another season IMO.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out but since 2007 and DT inception only one forward has ever appeared in the saints top 5 DT scorers for the year, and that has always been NRoo.
Last year alone Freo had 2 with Fyfe and Pav, just a small part of why Freo was more fun to watch play.
Also, with Milne, since 2008 his avg DT score is unchanged, and has varied only 2 points at most, so whilst he was kicking more goals he was doing less "other stuff" :)

pav up forward will a protected species and by the looks should be well fed from upfield.

picker_man

what other decent forwards do freo have that can protect him from the double team but, that'll be my only worry

Keplar showed early last season that he can be a threat (was 2nd in the coleman after 10 games or so).  Zac Clarke has spent all of the pre-season as a forward.  Both big boys who can mark and kick straight.  Then we can finally play Mayne where he should be - 3rd tall.

That might propose another question you can awnser valk. If Lyon does play keplar, clarke and mayne all down forward and Jack anthony is another one to add to the mix will that bring down pav's scoring compared to previouse years he played at chf as there will be plenty of other options for freo mids to go to??

valkorum

IMO I cant see JA playing and only 1 of Kep/Zac up forward

Yeah i think regardless of what Lyon does with Pav he will still be a gun. People seem to forget that Pav has been a gun for so long. He hasn't averaged below 88 since 2003 which is astonishing. Sure, Zaharakis had a great 2nd half of 2011 DT wise but Pav has had a great 9 years DT wise.
