Please rate and offer advice on what I think is a strong side.

Defenders - B Goddard, H Scotland, B Deledio, M Suckling, B Lake, J Allen, B Ellis (B Wilkes, M Baguley)

Midfielders - G Ablett, D Swan, J Selwood, J Caddy, T Mitchell, D Shiel (E Kavanagh, J McDonald)

Rucks - M Leuenberger, B McEvoy (O Stephensen, S Rowe)

Forwards - L Franklin, P Chapman, D Martin, T Cloke, D Zaharakis, D Zorko, A Treloar (T Couch, S Kerridge)

Hope to watch Caddy increase in price quickly before upgrading him to someone like Murphy.

$5,700 left in the kitty.

Cheers,

Remaining salary?

Anyhow, i dont mind the backline premiums, just not too sure about allen, lockyer and bootsma, more bootsma and lockyer, coz i have heard some good things about allen, but still an unknown to me.

I think one more midfield premium or mid pricer needs to be there. Not too sure about gaff, seemed to be the guy west coast turns to for a sub, and aside from a couple games, i dont think he scored too well. Horsley is too much of an unknown to me.

Ruck is very good.

Forward line is also very good, you are the first person ive seen that has tom couch, a guy that i have, who i think will be supercoach bargain of the year....... no one else seems to think it though! Butcher is interesting, but could pay off.

What you could do....

Good cheap backman that are tipped to go well are: Steve morris, B ellis, luke brown (mid/back), tim golds (back/mid) are just a few that IMO could be better choice then bootsma and lockyer, maybe allen.

Depending on your remaining salary, i think you could try to get another premium mid by trying to upgrade gaff, maybe downgrade butcher if not enough money. Tom mitchell and Dayne Zorko are two very very promising mids that could do you well, IMO are better than horsley

A nice unique solid team!

That is fantastic feedback Purple 77 thanks alot.

Remaining salary is $3,500.  This is my 5th SC year and I've never believed in keeping money in the bank to begin with.
I you tubed Allen and he looks really good.  Great long right foot kick and attacks the footy.
Bootsma is a skinny kid whom I'm not quite convinced with yet.
Lockyer isn't a lock for me yet either.
Horsley is a mature age fella who looks like he has all the time in the world with the footy.  Left foot kick with super skills. In and under player who tackles hard and could be a ball magnet.
Tom Couch son of Paul the garbologist need I say more except will earn me some good cash I think.
I rate Gaff.  I think he's ready to explode and did his apprenticeship last year as a the sub.
Very happy with my 4 rucks and they wont change.
Theres something about Butcher.  He shined in a sh!t side last year so Im backing him.
Again great feedback and advice P 77.

Cheers,

I like your back line.  Hawks have a pretty tough first half of year, don't know if that chip style game plan will work against the stronger sides.  Might be a better upgrade target dunno.

Mids can't complain about, Gaff is a risk, so don't get too attached to him.  Be prepared to trade him.

Butcher is great, but I think you are asking a lot of him.  Has also had interrupted preseason with his foot I beleive.

Purple77 nailed it but horsely will be a good pick but you cannot pick him until the suns promote him off the rookie list.

As purp says some unique and risky picks but from what I am seeing going normal isn't going to cut it this year you will need to research some players you think will shine go with your gut and have a pair, good team good luck

Cheers charliesheen.

I liked Suckling last year but didn't pull the trigger on him and trade him into my side.  Keen to start with him this time round and see how he goes.
The Gaff pick is definately a risky one.  I'm trying my best to be unique and gain that very important edge over everyone else's sides. Might need to look at a more proven midfielder.
Again selecting Butcher is a little different also. I like the way he goes about it. I hope he stays injury free and this reflects on his SC scores.

Bring on the footy.

Hey Colliwobblers thanks for your comments.

Great point on Horsely.  I've replaced him with Mitchell.
Always back your gut feel on unique players I think.
Looking forward to the pre-season comp for sure.

Cheers.

Nice side mate.

Backline is very solid. Question marks over Lake but you would be very much aware of that no doubt.

Mids are just awesome. 4 absolute guns in there! Might need to downgrade one of them to free up some cash though to complete your side..

Rucks are questionable. I just think that West is too big a risk. Maybe downgrade a couple of guns to make some cash and then pick a ruck of your choice.

Forwards are great but I'd be wary of Goodes' slow starts to seasons. I will most likely be bringing him into my team later on in the season. Maybe swap him for D Martin. He will smash it this year, he has the added bonus of MPP and you'll save 50k!

My suggestions:

1. Bring in Barlow for one of Swan or Pendlebury to free up cash.
2. Bring in ruck of your choice for West.
3. Bring in D Martin for Goodes to free up some cash and due to Goodes' slow starts.

Just my opinions. Do with it what you will. Good luck!

Cheers Ben.

Yeah content with my backline as it is at the moment.  Very happy with my rookie picks in Ellis and Allen.  Will keep a close eye on them during the pre season games.  Lakes a risk but his such a good player and given the opportunity I think he'll score well.  The lads on the bench may change.

Can't fault my Midfield.  You're right I might need to downgrade one of my premiums.  If I do it will probably be Murphy.  If I do I'll put McEvoy in for West.  Had McEvoy in my original side.

Leuenberger averaged 117 points in his last 11 games and 102 for the year.  Cox and Sandilands are great players but I want to keep my rucks unique this year without compromising on the rest of my side.  McEvoy had a really good second half of the year also.

For the last 4 or 5 years I've picked Goodes first up and hes taken time to heat up so again great advice Ben. I'm trying to pick 13 or 14 keepers so I can concentrate on upgrading my side rather than trade like for like players as I've done in the past.

I'm adicted to trading so need to keep it in check this year!

I think Barlow is a smart pick.

Great advice thanks for taking the time to comment on my side Ben.
