Had a bit of time on my hands today so decided to do a couple of ladders showing the difficulty of the fixtures for each team for each half of the season.

The main reason I have done this is to assist with deciding which players would be best to start in the team and which players are better upgrade targets in accordance with the difficulty of their teams fixture.

The way I have compiled the ladder is with a point system. My point system is worked around the ladder at the end of last years home and away season with GWS added as the bottom of the ladder.

For example, when a team plays GWS they get 18 points and when they play Collingwood they get 1 point.

So the higher a team scores, the better fixture they have

Here's the ladders in order of easiest fixture to hardest:

Ladder for first half of the season:

1. Sydney
2. Essendon
3. North Melbourne
4. Carlton
5. Collingwood
6. St Kilda
7. Gold Coast
8. Geelong
9. West Coast
10. Western Bulldogs
11. Greater Western Sydney
12. Fremantle
13. Adelaide
14. Hawthorn
15. Port Adelaide
16. Brisbane
17. Richmond
18. Melbourne

Ladder for second half of the season

1. Melbourne
2. Richmond
3. Adelaide
4. Fremantle
5. Brisbane
6. Port Adelaide
7. Greater Western Sydney
8. Hawthorn
9. St Kilda
10. North Melbourne
11. Gold Coast
12. West Coast
13. Geelong
14. Western Bulldogs
15. Carlton
16. Essendon
17. Sydney
18. Collingwood

Hope this helps when having a tough time deciding on players for your side.

what are the points difference?from 1-18 if its like only 2 point then not really much you can differ but say if 30-40 point diff then thats another story

For the first half, the top placed Sydney has 47 points more than the bottom placed Melbourne.

For the second half, the top placed Melbourne has 70 more points than the bottom placed Collingwood.

I've seen yours and Tbetta (dreamteamtalk) article about who has the better fixtures. Both are very handy as a guide.

The only thing i would change is the ranking system, just because Collingwood finished first doesn't mean they were the hardest to score dreamteam /Supercoach points against. Sydney may have finished lower but probably conceded less points then some of the higher teams (especially with DT)

Ive had a look for team stats but couldnt find any that showed how many points teams gave up throughout the year, i think that this would be a better representation of the fixture
