Hello guys, I really need someones help.

I accidentally deleted a whole load of files from my mac by accident, and when I say a whole lot I mean close to 200 gigs worth of stuff!! :o
Is there a way for me to be able to recover this on my computer even though I emptied the trash? :-\

Ziplock

not that I know of.

how the flower do you accidentally delete 200gb?!?!

my dad (is in IT at a uni), says there are some low grade tools used for computer forensics, but that they don't have a 100% success rate.

apart from that, no.

CrowsFan

Bugger :'(

Well I selected a file to delete, then emptied the trash immediately, but somehow when I moved the first file to the trash it also moved my whole folder of non-uni related things, and so that was also deleted!

I seriously can't believe I did that!! >:(

Ziplock

in future just stream porn, don't download that way you don't need to cover your tracks :)

Hahahahha Ziplock

Have you got your mac's content back-up on an external hard drive? If not, you should have.

hawk_88

As far as I know osx keeps no version history.

There is a decent chance at least some of it is accessible with the HDD recovery tools but I have no experience using them. Have to talk to a repair store, in particular one that specialises in data recovery. Don't think it is particularly cheap though.

CrowsFan

Oh well thanks guys.

I had a lot of it backed up on an external hard drive, but there was also some new stuff which hadn't been backed up yet.

Also my hard drive is in Sydney and I am in Hobart for the summer... :(

nas

had a look at google, mac deleted file recovery, & there is some there if that helps mate.

if you have the program time machine on your mac and had it turned on then that backs up your computer for you i think so you should be able to find the stuff on there
