I'm not sure Kersten will fall quite that far.
That's just me though.

If Kersten is available at 16 I think we should take him

should we go for Brandon Ellis and Shane Kersten?

Ellis sounds like the perfect swingman, i reckon going for him would be a great move

set him up at FF and then play him with Kersten at CHF in a few years time :)

but i think pick 16 should go to Ellis and Kersten at 20

if ellis falls to the roos i think they will pick him up so if he doesn't go at 16 i dont see you getting him.

I just asked Jason Phelan this question:

Comment From Goodbye
Should Fremantle use their first pick for Brandon Ellis at 16 in the hope Kersten falls to them as their second pick at 20?

His response:
Jason Phelan: Hello Goodbye - if Kersten doesn't go to GWS then Fremantle should definitely hold off on drafting him until 20 and take Ellis or Adams at 16.

Cicjose

picking midfielders when we don't need them

This draft has now set Fremantle backwards 5 years

Congratulations must be applauded for Ross Lyon's recruitment team for screwing Fremantle from this compromised draft

Once again Cic goes negative.  I thought you had turned a corner

We get a tough inside midfielder with Sheridan, hopefully Crozier can turn out to be Fyfe like.  Forster was an interesting choice IMO - I would have gone a KPF (cough *Kersten*)

Ziplock

I think the most important thing is to consider is the ridiculous number of midfielders GWS have :P

Cicjose

we do not need mids......

i dont understand why we would pick mids when we need KPP

now we will use our PS draft pick to get Dawson when up forward is our biggest concern

valkorum

We will prob go big in the rookie draft.  Plenty of KPF's not picked.  Pav, Kep and Clarke/Sandi will play the tall

Ross Lyon is all about the engine room

As Matthew Pavlich edges closer to his twilight years, Fremantle will eventually need to turn their recruiting minds to a replacement for the skipper. Not this year, though.

The Dockers answered the question of whether their midfield had sufficient depth to carry out Ross Lyon's game plan with a resounding no. They drafted midfielders with all five of their picks, overlooking WA key forward Shane Kersten at no.16 in the process.

That quartet will take time but if most of them come on, Fremantle will have a running brigade the envy of the league in a couple of years.

i have no idea if this author is serious or having a laugh at us. I dont rate any of the players we picked. Crozier is probably the best of them at this stage but anyway...........

Sheridan came 2nd in the B&F for Calder Cannons and he didnt play every game - he comes highly rated as an inside midfielder (which we need) and has excellent endurance (15.7 beep and 9min 58sec 3km)

Crozier got a lot of media attention for THAT MARK but he reminds me of Fyfe/Pitt/Hill in that they have plenty of ability but not enough kg on them.  All 3 of them got games early ;)

I dont know much about Forster but from what I have been reading it seems he is like Duffield except that he is better 1-on-1 (defensively) than Duffman is.

Lachie Neale looks to be a good speculative pick at #58.  He averaged 31.3 disposals, 5.6 marks, 5.1 inside 50s and 6.4 clearances per game at SA U18 level.  These are not numbers to be laughed at.

I also didnt know much about Cam Sutcliffe but at pick #71 we went for the best option and he appears to have been it.  Great endurance (15.3 beep) and great agility (8.11) so he has the tools to be able to play the wide spaces of Subi.

Cicjose

yeah im bitter about having no forward structure when Pavlich retires and that with our once in a generation injury crisis over none of these kids will play early if at all next year
