brad ottens

what do people think about brad ottens as 2nd ruck?

apparantly he has had a really good preseaon so far

His best is now past him. He will still get you the occasional score over 100 but is also guaranteed to miss games through injury.

For a few Ks extra you could get Jolly. He looked underdone in the NAB cup game but the reality is that the swans don't have a backup ruck meaning Jolly will play a lot of the game time.

but bomber said that he is fit and pretty much ready to go

and plus its not like blake or west will steal many of ottens's points or anything

and another thing i saw that he played mostly in the forward line ina practise match

the only problem with him is he gives away to many free kicks :(

It's a worry mate. The price is looking great....but the reality is that Ottens has only played every game in a season twice over his 10 year career. Never at Geelong. You take a risk.....could pay off. But with crap ruck rookies this year expect a few zeros. He should play his usual 16 to 18 games.

We (cats) now ruck with Blake as much as Ottens. Ottens usually rest in the forward line......but with Tom Hawkins coming back potentially Ottens might get benched a bit.

I though about it but went with Cox and Petire.............then I will never have to touch my rucks again all year.

It is a risky option... he may not play all games and Blake does most ruckwork now days

With 4 boundary umpires and a quicker game expected in '09, Ottens could be too slow to get to many contests.

That, the injury risk and lack of Ruck bench depth makes me doubt him.

He looked embarrassing on the weekend. Score 6 SC points.

Blake will do majority of ruck work leaving Ottens as a forward where he really doesn't score much points.

I dropped COX and have gone with Hille and Petrie for my rucks.
