I'd love to play in the midfield," Ballantyne said on Monday.

"I think it's more from a fitness kind of thing that I haven't been pushed into the midfield, but hopefully if I can get through a full pre-season I might get a bit of a run.

"I've got a few goals I've set for myself and if I can get to them I should be a fair go in the midfield hopefully."

"I've got poor technique apparently when I run, so I was just trying to strengthen up certain muscles that aren't working properly and get the technique right," he said.

"I had about a week off with just complete rest and then started building up again slowly.

"If I can sharpen a few things up, it should help."

I just listened to the interview and they asked him about Mora.  He said that if you see him with his shirt off that he is a ripped animal.  GOLD.

I'm not sure about the Midfield move. I think he can become a big goal kicker.

I don't mind "stints" as an outside midfielder as he is super quick.  He is a great kick for goal so I wouldn't have a problem with him running to/inside the 50 and kicking for goal.

My concern is his hamstrings as he seems to get a niggle and miss a few games each season so far because of them.

This could be because of the running tech that was mentioned above. I've heard that it can cause issues with the hamstrings. If he does fix that over the preseason I'd say it would go a long way to helping that.

Yeh I heard that bit too (about running style).  Maybe its a similar situation to Cyril, if they can fix it without him losing his speed then I am all for it.

Paul Chapman modified his running / training & worked ok this year.

The look of pain and determination on Hayden Ballantyne’s face matched his cries of agony as he willed himself over the finish line with a gut-busting burst that left nothing in the tank.

The pocket-rocket was one of a number of Fremantle Dockers at McGillvray Oval in Claremont today for the first 3km time trials of the 2012 pre-season.

Others to impress were Tendai Mzungu, a lean looking Ryan Crowley and Clancee Pearce, who was delisted at the end of the season but is training with the squad in the hope of being picked up in the rookie draft.

Tough day to do a 3km time trial.  It got to 36 here in Perth.
