Crowley is only 28 next year - he wont retire at that age.  He needs to step up next year or risk not getting a new contract next year.

Entirely in Crowleys court to perform - if he doesnt then he is out.  Similar thing happened to Embley at the E-Girls.  He was at a crossroad and nearly de-listed, only got a 1 year contract and turned it around.
