can someone please explain to me what everyone is talking about when they say how good collingwoods draw is??? they have played two other best teams from last year twice as well as carlton twice, and for the lack of travel and prime time matches, maybe if other clubs actualy supported their team and got a good crowd they would get friday and saturday night games!

Do we really have to go through this again? >:( they have the easiest draw in the league FULL STOP

+1 There are arguments both sides of the fence so we just need to agree to disagree and whilst Collingwood are a good cash cow for the AFL they will continue to get prime time positioning.

I don't think Collingwoods draw has been that easy. They haven't travelled much this season, but that may be because they would need a bigger ground for the expected crowds. Have any of Collingwoods games interstate been lock outs? The AFL is a business, and they play their most valuable assets where they will make the most money.

Voice of reason bunyip as usual.

I'm happy with Collingwood's draw, it is easier than last year... where the Pies had to play the other 3 top 4 teams 10 times (out of 26 matches!) to win the flag.

Hey Usman, are you living in fairyland? Collingwood had, statistically, the second hardest draw in the AFL last year(second only to Essendon), yet still finished on TOP OF THE LADDER. They were the only top 8 side to play 7 of the other top 8 sides twice...and guess which side they only played once? Yep, Freo....and guess where they played them? In Perth! So how can that be an easy draw? We've won 9 of our last 10 interstate games, so perhaps the AFL is doing the OTHER TEAMS a favour by 'only' giving us 4 interstate games. We have 11 home games, like everyone else....and playing at the MCG? If you bothered to look, you'd see that EVERY VICTORIAN CLUB NOMINATES THAT THEY WANT TO PLAY COLLINGWOOD AT THE MCG AS A HOME GAME, it's a guaranteed $ windfall for them if they do so

I understand why the AFL does it, thats a no brainer, does that mean its fair. NO. Everyone is contradicting themselves by saying they dont get an easier draw but then they dont have to travel  ::) Collingwood are the Biggest and best side in the AFL that does not mean the draw is even though so you Collingwood supporters sitting there feeling attacked might need to take a second look at the draw and thank your lucky stars.

I know the Pies have advantages... but really not that much more than any other Vic team

Carlton: 4 interstate
Collingwood: 4 interstate
Essendon: 5 interstate (after 3 last year)
Geelong: 6 interstate
Hawthorn: 5 interstate (Tassie games don't count)
Melbourne: 3 interstate (Darwin doesn't count)
North Melbourne: 6 interstate
Richmond: 3 interstate (2 others don't count)
St. Kilda: 6 interstate
Bulldogs: 5 interstate (Canberra doesn't count)

Let them whinge amd whine.

We'll play anyone anywhere, in fact we have and to date lost only one game in the process.

Adelaide had the easiest draw of the lot and they were the first to scak their coach - go figure.

Usman

Actually this topic was a collingwood supporter whining about how others say their draw is easier. They get what the want when they want it lets face it, for reasons that are obvious. BUT how are we going to have an even game when this happens sport is a dynamic business where we require teams we are in competiton with to work with us so the game is entertaining and competitve. Without competitors what is the game?
