Your umpiring mates will. He had a long career as a central SANFL umpire after knee complaints kept him from cementing a spot with any SANFL sides. A Port fan growing up, I can tell you he developed a love for all things football when he first decided to grab the whistle back in the mid 90's

He is now the General Manager at AAMI Stadium and is the contact for stadium tours and hospitatlity, scroll down through Daniel Kowal

Umpiring is a great way to be part of the game (I umpired when my career stalled in '89.. only at the now defunct SAFA level) and more needs to done to recruit and maintain interest in what can be a well paid and rewarding career.

Pretty much why I umpire. Loved footy and wasn't that bad at it either just that everyone grew bigger and I stopped.
