I know it's very early to be saying this, but down by 30-40, Bailey subbed and Buddy injured.

I hate to say it, but I think we will be knocked out next week. :(

North Melbournes Finest

You were playing 2 players short -
Breust (Absolutely spudded it up) / Hale  :o

And Geelong had an extra man -
Ryan Schoenmakers (Man I'd love to see Clangermakers disposal efficiency)

roo boys!

Hale had a shocker and I never thought Shoenmakers was up to it anyway. He's too slow and can't kick the bloody ball.

Depends on if Buddy is out.

They are no doubt stronger without him and will lack height in their forward line. So if Buddy and Bailey were out Hawthorn in my opinion should go in next week with a side like this.

B- Stratton, Gibson, Murphy
HB- Burgoyne, Birchall, Suckling
C- Smith, Shiels, Lewis
HF- Bruest, Hodge , Rioli
F- Renouf, Hale, Osbourne
R- Johnson, Mitchell, Sewell
INTER- Ellis, Guerra, Puopolo
Sub - Young/Savage/Bateman

On the bolded players

Stratton - Needs to come straight back into the defence, to add soem height and balance to the backline.
Birchall - They need to make sure he or Suckling are freed up.
Smith - His run is vital, Hawthorn were at their best when he was tearing down that wing with a number of touches.
Hodge- With the lack of height up front he needs to play as a Key Forward.
Renouf- Needs to come back in to add height if Buddy is out will also allow Hale to play FF for the entire game, by being the one to give ruck support.
Hale- Needs to play FF at all times if Buddy is missing.
Johnson- Played well last week and needs to be considered if Bailey is out, can also offer a lot as a forward.
Young/Savage/Bateman - Need to be added for pace.

Young has been injured so not sure about him.

Buddy looks like he will miss the finals at a minimum right now. :'(

pothead

i reckon buddy could come back but not next week but the one thing about hawthorn that i couldnt stand was Ryan Schoenmakers - he does not deserve a spot in there top 22 especially when they have stratton fit, this may be a little to far but that was one of the worst disposal efficency and worst decision making that i have seen by one player in a match

The Hawks looked good in the first Qtr. Although they did miss alot of shots in front of goal in that 1st Qtr.
Not all goals were easy but some certainly gettable. When playing a class team like Geelong all chances have to be taken.
It may have been a different result if the Hawks could have kicked straight at the start of the game.

SCOREBOARD PRESSURE    SCOREBOARD PRESSURE

Yeah. Scoreboard pressure could have resulted in the hawks dictating play for the rest of the game but
they were unable to achieve this through the sheer brilliance of the Cats all over the ground.
In my opinion it will be the Hawks to go out in straight sets due to their injury concerns and certain key players going missing.

The fantasy world collectively gasped when Budweiser went down last night...

Hopefully he wont need surgery, hate seeing stars injured...

I think if the Saints go through today, they'll beat Hawthorn. But the Hawks should still beat Sydney even without Buddy.

MarkPlow

Schoenmakers must go. Is not good enough for AFL. Can't play tall and his decision making and disposal is horrible. Stratton or Lisle to replace.

Bateman is finished. Nowhere near the player he was in 2008. Injury prone, has lost his pace and kicking ability.

Finally our short kicking game will not hold up against Geelong and Collingwood. Its fine when u hit a pass and move it on quickly but chipping it around is just a waste of time. Midfield was absolutely smashed against Geelong. Could not believe how easily they were getting it out of the middle and sending it into attack

Looking good at half time to play Sydney.

Well, i sort of take that comment back now. Sydney could upset the Hawks, looks like Lewis will get suspened for the late hit on Selwood. And even if Buddy gets up to play, who says that his two sling tackles on Bartel won't get him a week? ;)
