This year’s Chris Mainwaring Legends Match for Telethon will have a new twist, with the Collingwood Football Club putting together a team of past greats to take on legends from the West Coast Eagles for the first time.

This year will see the OWLS (Older Wiser Larger Slower) from West Coast including footy veterans such as Dean Kemp, Peter Matera, Brett Heady and David Wirrpunda honouring club legend Chris Mainwaring who passed away in October 2007 at the age of 41.

Collingwood fans will get to see greats like Anthony Rocca, Damian Monkhurst and Tony Francis take to the field with more big names to be announced soon.

Now in its fourth year, previous matches have attracted crowds in excess of 32,000.

The Mainwaring tribute match is basically ex Eagles players playing against usuallly ex Docker players but this year it`s against ex Collingwood players. It`s kind of like the E.J Whitten game.
Chris Mainwaring was a big supporter of West Australias Telethon so they decided to play a Chris Mainwaring tribute match every year that raises money for telethon.
