I am down to 4 trades. I have sewn up a top 4 finish in my league but I have some fairly stiff competition. my team for this week, sits as is;

Defenders: Gibbs Deledio Goddard Heppell Adcock Stanley H.Taylor
Bench: H.Shaw Pederson Jacobs

Midfield: Boyd Pendlebury Thompson O'Keefe Rischitelli Swallow
Bench: Harris Hibberd Mzungu

Ruck: Cox Hale
Bench: Z.Smith Derichx

Forwards: Fyfe Goodes Pavlich Harvey Franklin Green Krakouer
Bench: Yarran Darling J.Brown

With this, I have $254,000 + 4 trades.

I am thinking downgrade Shaw to Talia and that will leave me with about $480K and 3 trades to use come finals time.

Alternatively, I hang on to my 4 trades and play it out.

I see $480K to spend on my last 3 trades means 3 more premiums in to my team and would surely make it a stong proposition, given most of my bench would be solid contributors as well.

Thoughts??

I wouldn't be downgrading Shaw because your team isn't that strong already upgrade him to someone so you don't make your team even worse then save the other 3 trades for injuries because they are sure to happen with 7 rounds still to play

Cicjose

add to the fact you have 3 backmen and 2 forwards with byes in finals

maybe shaw to fisher this week.
and in a couple of weeks move okeefe fwd and krak to mids and trade krak for ablett.

and save the last 2 for LTIs.

.... i'm no expert tho.

I like this idea. I think your onto a winner

im in a similar position as you but fisher has a huge b/e so the extra few bucks could be handy later

fisher has a lower b/e than say suckling or birchall.

Well you have gotta trade Shaw and Brown now so If that doesn't say save your others trades I don't know what will.

I am playing to win my league, not overall position. I have locked in a top 4 spot so the double chance is secure which was my ultimate goal for the regular DT season. if I have a loss or 2 in the last couple of rounds, I am not fazed.

I was thinking the Shaw for Talia trade for the following reasons;

I would then not need to use my remaining 3 trades until the finals (Round 21).
My bench is reasonably strong. I envisage all of them holding their spot except Shaw, Brown & Derichx.

Completing the Shaw for Talia trade would leave me with $482K and 3 trades.

I could upgrade Brown to a $400K+ player, I could upgrade Harris to a $370K mid and I could upgrade Pederson to a $400K defender all in 3-4wks.

Gibbs, Heppell & Harvey could all be swapped to the midfield during their bye and replaced by D.Swallow on my bench who is capable of a 80+ score and is getting better. Yarran & Taylor will become bench players after making the above upgrades so their bye wont effect me.

The threat of long term injuries to premiums is all that will harm me.

am I on the right track here or do you guys think the above is a bad move?

@PowertoWin.

I like the idea mate, makes a lot more sense. It's hard to see that you have bench cover for finals byes when you just read the text on here if you know what I mean, sometimes you forget that x player is mpp and can be swapped. But given you can swap your lads around to cover the byes gives your team a bit more value.

However! As well as LTI's you need to keep in mind that some of the top teams will be resting star players. if you're willing to take this risk then that's fine. Maybe do those upgrades one per week through the finals so that you still have a diminishing amount of trades to use for restings/LTI's as well as byes. Obviously still risk involved, but lessens it to some degree.

Trade off between the immediate benefit of a higher scoring player vs the security of having an extra 1/2/3 trades up your sleeve.

Good luck!

Understand mate, appreciate your advice.

I guess I do not need to haev an immediate high scoring player in my team, because I have wrapped up the double chance Top 4 spot in my league.

I guess, to some degree, we are all in a similiar boat with LTIs and player restings.

I can hold out the final 3 trades until atleast the beginning of the finals which should hold me in good stead.

I am currently ranked just over 7000th which isnt too bad either I thought.

I think I will go the Shaw to Talia trade, then use the final 3 trades later on for premium upgrades, presuming everything else goes to plan.
