So this week i will be downgrading on my midfield bench and will then be able to afford any defender except for Fisher and Scotland.

So suggestions on who is the best option?

I am leaning towards broughton in which will save me some money

if you read around the forums, Broughton & Newman seem the most popular, along with Enright.

Who do you have? Goddard? Scotland? Fisher? Shaw? Leds?

Get Malceski, because he looks like a Russian spy.

Sorry i have: Gibbs, Goddard, Enright, Delidio, Heppel, Buckley, Thompson (Who will be traded this week)

Are there any other pressing issues?   I would be inclined to wait and get Shaw after the bye.

Broughton's recent role change is encouraging, but he does have a history of missing some weeks.  Could pay off, especially with Roger Hayden returning to the team soon which should only release him.

I'd go with Newman now - very consistent, then after the Pies' 2nd bye, bring Heath Shaw in.

Of course, it depends on the balance of your side. If you have a number of other Tigers (eg. Jack Roo, Cotchin, Martin, Foley, & you already have Deledio), then go for Broughton. However, if you have numerous Freo players, like I do (eg. you may have Pav, Fyfe, Sandi, Mundy, & Lower & Duffield are other popular choices), then you'd be best suited going Newman, like I am planning to do this week.

Also, consider the stats: Broughton ave 91.3, B/E 44, & costs $406,900. Newman ave 100.6, B/E 61 & cost $414,800. Very similar price-wise, however, Newman is averaging almost 10ppg more, and both have quite low B/E's.

Bottom line, I would get 1 of these guys this week for 2 reasons: 1. The appear to have bottomed out & represent very good value, & 2. Your back line needs 2 premium backs to come in ASAP. I think you're right in moving Thompson on this week, then I would do likewise with Buckley (to Heath Shaw as i said earlier) after the Pies' 2nd bye. But it's up to you - goodluck!!
