I do not think it matters if they were stars in the eyes of the public. A farwell game is a commendation of someone achieving status into the game as we know it today. Any player that is worthy of stepping up from VFL to AFL deserves every credit. This is a hard arse game and takes someone extremely talented as an athlete to play.
