Dempsey to a premium or a rookie (such as Toy)

Hi, so I've already mentioned this in another post, but I reckon since it's a separate topic I would make a new post.

So, Dempsey's injured, and although I was considering dumping him anyway, as a final parting insult he of course got injured on 14 so I'm going to have even less money to play with unfortunately, as he is now down to $256k. I've got $150k in the bank, but I was going to use that up soon to go Hayes > Swan when the time is right (probably after Rd. 7). However, I'll probably be able to make some cash off one of my rookies by then, so a double trade then is probably not a bad option if I get a premium for Dempsey in the next few weeks as well... just wondering which Defenders are worth getting... Enright I mentioned before but as other's mentioned he has a bye in the finals, and i already have J. Selwood. Is it perhaps worth taking a risk and jumping on someone like Broughton or Duffield when their price crashes? Or perhaps I should even bring in a rookie like Toy and wait a bit longer (however even though B. Smith, Otten, Heppell (DPP) are playing well for the moment, I reckon my backline of Goddard, Gibbs, Grimes, Adcock, Lower, and either Smith/Otten/Heppell needs another premium...

Anyway, tell me what you think. I can probably sit on this trade for a while I guess, as I am only going for the league win.

Cheers guys.

Well firstly I'd say that its a long time til finals, so if you want Enright then just get him. Geelongs bye is in the second week of finals which means you may have the week off anyway (if you finish top four and win your first game). Also What about the last two weeks of finals? It'd be handy to have a guy like Enright in your backline IMO. Its no good getting to the final because you have thrown all your resources at the first 3 weeks of finals then finding that your team is not as strong as it could be for the final. Is it better to get knocked out early on but if you dont then be really strong in the final, or is it better to make the final but have a weak side? This probably shouldn't be over complicated too much though, sure be aware of byes and how your team will develop, but still make your team as strong as you can and select the players you want. In saying all that I think you'd be better off getting a cashcow like Toy, he'll make you up $200K which could be very handy later on...

At the end of the day your aim is to fill your team up with premiums so I say start now and grab a premium

Cheers for the replies guys.

I'll post my full team to show you how I'm looking:

Grimes, Goddard, Adcock, N. Lower, Dempsey, Gibbs, Heppell, (A. Otten, B. Smith, Toy)

Mids - Mitchell, A. Swallow, Curnow, D, Swallow, J. Selwood, Liberatore, Hayes, M. Hibberd, Harris)

Rucks - Cox, Sandilands, (Tippett, Keeffe)

Forwards - Rioli, Goodes, Riewoldt, Tapscott,  Franklin, Didak, Darling (Krakouer, C. Richardson, B. Matera)

I ended up trading in Toy for J. Stanley (picked the wrong Stanley at the start, I think I didn't even think about the fact that GC had to Stanley's :P ... Doh!), and I'm still sitting on the Dempsey trade, which judging by the B/E of Enright and other prospective back's, seems like a sensible thing to do (as I said again, I'm just going for the league win, so I'm not really worried about my teams strength until Rd. 7, when I play someone decent (but who I should probably beat, even with my current team), and in Rd. 9, where I play one of the Top 8 teams who avg 2000-2100+.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I am set on picking up Enright either next week or the week after (depending on how he goes), but I have though about Newman, and I was listening to this week's coaches box, and they mentioned Lovett-Murray, who seems pretty damn cheap at the moment, but might be a bit of a risk... any other players, or other areas of my team I could improve?

As for Swan, I know! Of course, I should have had him from the start, but I just assumed his price had to fall at some stage, and now I'm pretty set on picking him up after the Rd. 7 bye.

Cheers once again.

Edit: Forgot to mention that perhaps Deledio is of course another good back option.
