Gram is just picking up again after a down year. He's a DT slut!

JASON GRAM

I will be forever livid at myself for not going through with my gut feel that Jason Gram would continue where he left off in 2009. His stats were down last year because he was interrupted with injury throughout the year but he still averaged a very nice 84 from his 14 games. Season 2009 was his break-out year in terms of Dream Team stats, averaging 92 from 21 games. Of course playing in a high-possession style team that was successful boosted his scores but now he’s shown he still has the game while the Saints are currently struggling.

The annoying thing about Dream Team is that if you took his pre-season form on face value, you would’ve instantly said ‘no way’. I thought during the NAB Cup he played terrible and looked a shadow of his former self, which swayed me away from picking him. Then little would you know, straight away in round one he’s playing a full time midfield role and looking great!

I got to watch his game closely against Richmond, and although it isn’t a great indicator, he was floating around the middle all by himself, in a head to head role with Bachar Houli if my memory serves me correctly. What I’m getting at is that his role has changed, even from 2009, and he’s now playing exclusively midfield, playing that outside receiver role. Lenny Hayes going down doesn’t really affect Gram all that much, but it will consolidate his spot in the midfield if it was ever in any danger.

Gram has the bye this week, which is great news. His price won’t go up any further for another round, and he’ll be defender who you can bring in whose had one of his byes out of the way.

I know I’ll be doing all I can to get him in as soon as possible because I think by the end of the year he’ll definitely be in the top 10 defenders for points scored.

Great write up. I really want to get on him but there are very little (if any) fwd rookie options.

The Grundles

OK lets look at it this way...

Broughton is a DT slut at heart, we all know this and the fact he has had a slow start is disappointing yes, but its round 4 people...you should be saving your trades for on the cusp or maxed out rookies and re-buying rookies with the eventual hope of going premium with your $$$.

It does seem his role has changed and a lot of you will be thinking this as the reason for trading him out, but he is currently covering for the loss of both Tarrant and Silvagni...lets get excited at the fact that Ibbotson came back this week and Silvagni is due next week.  If you trade out now you have already lost 65k to what we all thought should have been a keeper at the beginning of the season....and you dont trade keepers...there's a reason they're called keepers.  You've done the homework, stick with it.

You should all hang onto him...he will come good.

Good luck peeeps x

Gooser

if you want to burn 2 trades go broug-toy krak- pav but i have to agree with most others and go a straight swap for gram also freo have the multi bye coming up another thing to consider if you don't have the cover.

Davoo

cant choose whether to trade him or not. if i do my defence has 3 rookies starting  :-\

ShaynoB

I wouldn't stress 2 much about starting 3 rooks at this stage. Most DEF rooks are scoring better or pretty close to the premiums anyways (barring Gibbs, Deledio and a couple of others). I wouldn't trade to Gram just yet as it's only been 3 games in for them and I still don't trust him atm. I'm looking at building the rest of my team 1st then the defensive cause let's face it, the majority or the backs have been very hot and cold to start off with.

I have been playing either 3 out of Heppell, Duigan, Otten and Toy and I can't say I've been to disappointed thus far!!

yorgis

would you go coad >>>> toy /smith ?

chaosAD

Might just play it safe and get Adcock in for Broughts and Toy in for Coad who will miss the next 3 months with a hammy off the bone, boring trade but its safe !
