Hibberd > Curnow?

So it seems like Curnow is the real deal, and I'm scared I'm going to miss out on the next Barlow.
Hibberd however, seems to always be 1 week away, and it is concerning that I'm not making any money there.

My team is:
DEF: Gibbs*, Goddard*, Deledio*, Duffield, Lower, Adcock, Heppell*, Otten, Stanley, Duigan
MID: Swan, Bartel, Montanga, Boyd, Krak*, Swallow, Harris, Bewick, Hibberd*
RUC: Sandilands, Cox, Smith, Bailey
FWD: Goodes*, Franklin, N Riewoldt, Zaharakis*, Knights, Petrie, Tapscott, Darling, Matera, Richardson
* denotes DPP - I only have DEF/MID & MID/FWD coverage - no FWD/DEF.

I have enough coverage for this week's BYE, by swapping Hibberd with one of my backline DPP (Gibbs, Goddard, Deledio, Heppell), so this is not a trade of necessity.

These are my thoughts (if Hibberd is still not named to play next week):
I trade Hibberd OUT and Curnow IN. Curnow will start for me, and Boyd, Montanga, & Bewick will sit on the pine. This will kill my DEF/MID link, but it won't be costly for the next 2 multi-bye weeks, as I will have coverage. I will also still have my MID/FWD link intact.

My reasoning is to jump on Curnow before he gets too expensive (as he is looking to be a stayer), and get rid of Hibberd as dead weight.
Then, when Hibberd is on the bubble after a couple of games (by the sounds of things he isn't too far away), I can trade him in for a well fed cow (like Bewick/Swallow/Harris), restoring my DPP link, and in turn making money for an upgrade.

In a sense it is a sideways trade, but it could potentially work out OK in the coming weeks. Plus it would give me greater scoring power (especially over the multi-bye weeks).

If Hibberd is named to play, I think I would leave my team alone.

Thoughts?

theres a billion other threads on curnow, and hibbert..

Hibberd to Curnow is a no brainer. It's worth losing your DPP with Hibberd because Curnow will play just about every game this season. Looks the goods and I'm getting him for Irons.

Mish

your gonna spend $70k+ to get him for irons?! :-o i'm not getting him.. i'm sure irons will rise enough

Andrew

Irons will probably get another game but surely some of Port's injured stars come back and he gets the chop? I can't see him playing in a Showdown this weekend but regardless, scores above 50 seem unlikely for him and he's the obvious candidate for me to sell for Curnow. Will Hibberd play...that's the question I'm dying to know  :-\

Andrew

I don't think it matters in terms of getting Curnow.

i have to say i was worried about Irons' JS when i got him initially and i'm still worried, so i think this is looking like the best option??

+1. With Curnow looking like 2011s Barlow, I think it's an easy trade to make if you have the money.

You would be crazy not to pick up Curnow, he is a long way from getting dropped and Hibberd has to crack into an Essendon outfit that flying at the moment! A no brainer get Curnow
