Just looking/commenting on Watto's SC MPP/mid-pricers team & started thinking more objectively about Jeremy Laidler...
He could actually be a very interesting unique down back!
Consider this: He's very handy player - reads the play well, solid left-foot disposal, good height & agility - likely to play (& probably score fairly well...) as a 3rd tall back at a new club (Carlton - who need good backmen!), with very much an AFL-ready body... As long as he plays... Which you would think he should, as the Blues were fairly keen & traded him in.
What are people's thoughts?
I'm particularly keen to get some Blues fans' opinions - what do you make of this fella? Will he play week-in, week-out in your opinion/s??

with jamieson likely to get suspended for his hit on henderson you wqould think he will be in the team...
although duigan will also come into the team and watson has looked good in pre season, so def need some blues supporters to comment

Watson is ahead of all of them. Thornton might come in for Jamison though.

I have the same dilemma. Its a shame carlton didn't get further in the NAB cup so we could see more of these guys.

Laidler is slightly taller but seems to find more possessions, while duigan (even tho he's a bit shorter) tends to take more marks. Very hard to choose.

I would think duigan is leading the way atm. But laidler is a very close second... watson also close.

Im not sure they will bring in thorton.... well i hope they dont anyway  :P

But of course rd 1 team will say it all. Just gotta wait and see..... Such a painful wait!!!!!

I reckon Thornton will definitely be in for the early rounds due to Henderson being injured. He is okay as a forward. Well, compared to Santa he is okay.

I've followed our pre-season pretty closely. All of Watson, Jamison, Laidler and Duigan aren't competing against each other and they later 3 will play alot of football this year barring injury.

Watson - CHB - Competing with Austin, O'hAilpin and possibly Bower
Laidler - 3rd tall - competing with Bower, Thornton, White and possibly Russell
Duigan - Small BP - competing with Joseph, Armfield and possibly Yarran (HBF).
Jamison - FB - Lock him in always to play, terrible for fantasy.

Duigan is one of the better defensive rookie prospects with Heppell, Puopolo, Coad, Stanley, Lower etc. I have him locked in my team. I wouldn't touch Jamison and there are better options than Watson at that price (lower scoring, job security).

As for Laidler, this is the most intriguing prospect for mine. Hugely overpriced considering he's only played one or two games. However, I feel he'll get first crack out of the players he competing with at the 3rd man up role. He has lovely disposal so should score ok, it all depends on his posession count because I think the likes of Yarran, Russell and even Gibbs will be our ball carriers out of defence. Intercepted marks score well though and he should get a few of these. Be cautious however, as Simon White played very well in that role against Adelaide and will be hot on his heels for a spot. It's a risk, but very unique and these types of players win you the comp if they pay off.

i'd get him in a flash if he was about 100 thousand cheaper. but he still could sneak in, i reckon he'll get regular games
