Am I the only one who reckons Gibbs may not be a great pick this year even though he is listed in the backline?

I know the numbers he can get playing in the midfield but not too sure if he will rack em up this year.  Seems as though about 90% of teams will have him in this year though..

Thoughts?

Mish

the guy will rack those possessions anywere he plays.

Red Dirtie

i havent got him, as he wont be a keeper in the finals!

i think imessenger is right to be questioning this ... i know it's only one (did he play 2 games??) NAB Cup Rd1 that I saw but he didn't look comfortable in the back-half, i know he's done it before and it's early days but my queries aren't so much on him but the rest of the Carlton back-line.

DT scoring relies on cheaps possessions from team-mate gives sometimes and I can't see him getting easy possessions from a struggling Carlton backline - that's my main worry with him ... if he gets a run thru the midfield, no worries but how often will that happen??

Yeah thats a good point too, there backline will def strugle this year.  Currently he's not in my team but im still deciding.  Thinking perhaps Enright might be a better option for slightly less coin.. he looked good in the warmups.

BUT If he does get rotated through the midfield.....

Gibbs is a great player and will probably keep his average if he stays in the backline and if he gets a go in the midfield will probably turn out like goddard.

Gibbs will end up finishing in the top 5 scoring defenders this year.
i reckon leave him out at your own peril

popedelio

Its Gibbsy!! and the more experience he has in the backline then the closer he will definitely turn into Goddard

hardnut

Not in the same postal code as Goddard - doesn't have the athleticism imo but is a MUST HAVE for a competitive DT back line

Big Lance

He played back all last year and will likely play more time through the mids this year ala Hodgey last year. I had him in my mids last year and wasn't dissapointed.

im not saying they play the same, but if gibbs gets a shot in the midfield he will probably average 110+ like goddard does in the backline.

Tenfold

Gibbs will play both mid and back. Therefore i think he will average about 100 points a game making him a moral to pick up

Flame

Gibbs is almost a lock for mine..in saying that I hope you stay unsure and don't pick him..

Scotland may be more unique!!

yeh gibbs is definitely a lock for me, somewhat because i don't have any other carlton players in my team atm.. lol but he is gna average 100 for ya. he loves chipping it around in the back half and when he goes into the mid we know he can kill it.
